Dash cam connection
« on: 30 July 2019, 19:30:46 »

I am sure there must be one, but can someone kindly direct me to a suitable "live with ignition ON" wire in the overhead panel of a '51 plate 3.2 Elite saloon?

TIA :y

Can’t remember the wires but I hardwired my front dash cam into the sunroof feed. Sure it was someone on here that helped me find the correct wires  :y

I can't remember, easiest way is to get a meter and check, on the Saab, it was a purple and grey, but then I've slept, since I did these.

Lever out light fitting and two Phillips screws are exposed, remove those and the sunroof knob and iirc the trim will pull out.

The only black lead in the overhead panel goes to the overhead lights, and is Ign live. I shall splice into it using an inline blade fuse connector to mount the 2A fuse which comes with the dashcam fitting kit.The lights are protected by fuse 29 (not 19 ::)) which is 10A.

Should also be one to the sunroof switch (likewise the mirror loom) , but the light ones will do nicely  :y

Incidentally, the lives, both ignition and permanent, are all fed from the big fuses in the engine bay and feed the power to the various fuses in the fuse box so one feed should be as good as the next ;)

Cheers Al, all connected and working now, (after much fiddling getting the splice and in-line fuse connectors to actually cut through the insulation and make contact with the metal core. >:() :y
