Looked at battlebus mirrors, started by removing the switch - which looks like it was the problem, and needed a bit of love - and promptly broke the connector clip. 'dangle berries'. Replacement ordered

Looked at rear wiper (not touching the glass at top), promptly broke blade. 'dangle berries' - though not overly fussed, as it had just started to split. Replacement ordered.

Came in, vowing not to touch anything else.

Well if you make sure somethings properly broken it makes the effort of replacing it more worthwhile ;D

Spent some quality time with an array of tube benders and soforth.. so the brakes are finally connected to the master cylinders.

Replaced rear pads on TBE, then set about looking for the reason for the Black Pussy's insatiable appetite for screenwash since xmas , even when unused.

To replace the knackered part, the bloody bumper has to come off, grrrr.  Still, I wanted to replace the bulbs anyway, and that's a bumper off job as well.

Guess I need to make up a shopping list... ;D

Likewise.  :(

Spanner twirling on Omega is easy, but not so sure on Jags and clearly fatty admin is on his own looking to DIY.

When I took the scuttle off I found some sound deadening on the back which was absolutely saturated.  I decided to remove and discard it.

Worth making sure the windscreen sealing strip is secure and sealing the scuttle panel well on reassembly or you'll get water in the plug wells. :y

Hi Kevin, I meant to ask earlier, what do I need to be looking for?  The grey strip at the bottom of the windscreen seems sound but there are some areas of delamination on the windscreen that could suggest water ingress (I might well get a crack in my winscreen and need the services of autoglass at some point in the future ;) ).  I also noticed that the metal strip that houses the securing clips for the scuttle is looking pretty rotten :(, this car might not be the one I was planning to keep on as a running classic, but I do plan to get a good few years out of her.

This weekend, dropped the ball joint and found the boots I'd ordered were too small :(
Cleaned, degreased and regreased the front caliper mounts and put new rubbers on the pins.
Fitted the PAS high pressure hose that I'd got from gstylebaby and was pleased to find the pre-facelift pipe fits a facelift, the only difference being the pre-facelift pipe does the job of two pipes on the facelift.  I can only imagine GM changed it to two pipes because it was a complete bitch to manipulate at both ends!
Started rebuilding the front end with a new condenser and drier fitted.  The Condenser was a pattern part and I'm not 100% happy with the joint between the condenser and the pipes on the car, but I'll have to let an aircon specialist look at that for me, it might be possible to use a shim to get a better fit.

The bumper looks to come off easy enough TBH.  Most tasks I've done on it have been pretty easy, although the official documentation can occasionally be unclear

Bumper off is a shit load of screws (5 per side to wheelarch liner, 5 underneath where bumper undertray meets main undertray, about 6 or 7 along the top, and a bolt each side), but nothing taxing.

I know I can get to faulty part by just removing wheelarch lining, and undoing one of the oil coolers and moving to one side, because that's what I did last night to locate faulty part, but I reckon bumper removal will be quicker than repeating that when part arrives...

Not that you should be considering a Jag or anything else, while you have a cheap to run (fuel aside), reliable, comfortable old bus like a 3.2 Elite ;)

I carnt get to headlight bulbs on my mondeo either, as they are, but I find it a 10min job to pop the complete headlight unit out change the bulb and replace. Is it not possible to the same on the jag  :-\

Thanks Henry :) I am particularly proud of the spiral loops, even if they are slightly uneven and not up to 'production vehicle' standards! Didn't half make my thumbs hurt trying to bend the kunifer around a relatively small mandrel..
