So. I passed my level 3 vehicle maint. and repair in June or July 2014. And if I'm honest I've been pretty lazy with regards to sourcing work.
So with the new year came a resolution to sort my shit out! With no experience under my belt I bravely (yeah right
) went for a couple of jobs. In 'n' Out being the first place. They didn't want me and they wouldn't even consider voluntary / work experience, although I would say they were pretty good with updating me, e mails etc. The other being the RAC... didn't even hear back.
I then decided to spam my CV out to local garages
didn't hear back from any...... except Under the Bonnet in Northampton. They said come down for a chat and I started work experience today. Everyone there has been so effin' amazing. It's very relaxed and I absolutely loved it. And to top it off the owner came in and said that the head mechanic had told him really good things about me and that we'd have a chat in a couple of weeks to see what we can work out going forward.
So, within ten minutes was major servicing an 11 plate Audi S4
Holy shit that's a nice car...but I really got to gen. up on iDrive style systems that modern cars now have to reset service lights etc.
Then serviced a BMW 3 Series (E90)....... two words...... air filter. UNBELIVABLE!!!!!
And then finally got to grips with pulling a dead steering rack outta a Mundane-o. Got it all loose, just to gotto wrestle with it tomorrow
So all in all, they're amazing and I'm so grateful for the opportunity when no one wanted to know. Hopefully the start of a new chapter in my life.
