Quick MOT question
« on: 31 January 2015, 10:58:20 »

I've bought a car and I've booked in for MOT Monday morning but i'll be in work so I've arranged to drop it off Sunday night and drop the keys through the letter box. Now I know it's ok to drive a car to the MOT without tax or MOT so long as it's insured but will I be ok driving it the there night before?

TIA

What are the chances of passing a copper anyway? ;)

It's a bit far for Jasonm to drive and his company BMW will have broken down before he makes it to Chester anyway ;D

I would say No, its ok for the Garage to say 'yea thats fine' but as far as Plod is concerned they would want to ring the Garage to confirm if stopped, so guessing no one is going to answer the phone on a Sunday Night, so you do run that risk and the consequences that Plod decide for you or the car.

If you was to ask, is it ok to drive the car to the Garage before they close a day before its booked in and the Garage is aware of this then yes.

Also as far as the DVLA is concerned, re Tax, technically your allowed on the road up to I hour before the MOT and up to 1 hour on the road from the MOT.
