The Smart looks as though it has all the crash protection of a wet Kentucky fried chicken box.

It's much more capable in an impact than the passengers.

Yeah, seen that before.

I've also recovered one that hit a stationary E-class at 60mph. The Smart's doors opened, and all 4 wheels turned. The back bumper of the E was under the rear screen. Smart driver was badly injured due to the deceleration, not the damage to the car.

Yes but that's the issue, the lack of crumple zones exposes the body internals to far more G, more often than not in a high speed crash resulting in death.

Its one thing maintaining the cabin, its another reducing the forces exposed to the person inside

I kept that in mind as I whistled down the motorway at *cough* 70 officer *cough* :y

Being realistic though, they were designed for the 0-40mph sprint, not sitting at 85 all day, and they're quite good at that and 'OK' at the latter.

Not that I'd know, of course, never having exceeded 70mph in my life, officer.

When the human body decelerates from 70mph to zero in very short time, the brain hits the skull and the heart hits the rib cage. Lights out.

Since last Thursday my back has ben giving me serious aches & pains. Today it felt a bit better so I did a couple of minor jobs.
The last one was changing the aux. belt on the 190. Within 5 minutes my hand slipped while pushing hard on the tensioner lever and shot down into the engine bay where something tore a fingernail off.  ::)
Its stings like a bastid, but as our glorious leader says - a bit of pain never hurt anyone.  ;D

Encountered a funny noise on the Trolley... Soon pinpointed to the aux belt, and in particular, the tensioner pulley.

New one ordered from Mercedes along with an extra long, flat 15mm spanner to remove it without dropping the engine*... nice little job for the weekend :)

*Did I mention what a marvel of packaging the Trolley is? ::)

Easy for him to say.  ::) ::) ::)

Not much pain to be experienced when eating chocolate cake in the bath.......or on the crapper. :)

OR,
if you have lots of odd spanners knocking about ,cut one end off, so it will slide into a tube ,making extra long spanner set
I did this, great for belt tensioners etc that are hard to get at or require leverage with one hand (while you slide the belt on etc with the other)
plus i'm too tight to buy long spanners  ;D
