Just priced one at the dealers and £178 quoted :o
A Contitech one would be much preferred
And price not that critical within reason
So over to you guys
if anyone knows a good source it will be much appreciated :y :y
Spent most of today on the case without much luck :'(

Tc gets it down to about £110/120 but still not cheap.

Most factors can help with a conti, gates or skf kit, so it's a case of phoning round, but it's important to get the right one re the backing plate and non/adjustable bottom roller on the 3.2's

I think that the back plates are slightly different depending on the age of the car, so in theory you could buy the cheaper one and reuse the existing back plate.  :-\

However that might be a load of old cobblers that I've just made up.  :D  If I'm wrong I'm sure I'll soon be put straight and rightly so!  ;D

If you take the engine out, degrease the area around the oil filter and then give the block a good rub with emery cloth you should be able to make out the engine number.

Failing that it is printed on the registration document  :)

Believe you can use an adjustable bottom roller on later (2.6 & 3.2 engines), but its more important to use the correct housing (can fit new rollers etc to original housing - ensuring correct spacers used)  ;)
Think Marks DTM Calib can confirm.

You can fit any kit to any engine if you re-use the tensioner back plate and accept you might have to adjust the lower idler (not an issue).

Buypartsby are about the best for price.  :y

Not sure how others have fared with car parts 4 less, but if you spend over £100, there's a promo code CP15LESS which lets you £15 off. They may work out more expensive before the promo code, but cheaper than the others afterwards. I did this with my timing kit - I simply added a couple of brake hoses to my order to tip it over the magic £100 and I then saved (ok, only) a fiver compared with other sites.  :)

I've used CP4L a couple of times via their ebay listings which seem to be cheaper.  ;)

Firstly I bought a battery last year which was delivered the next day.  :y  and secondly I bought a set of headbolts, but they only sent 8 bolts.  ::) When I complained and pointed out that the picture showed 16 bolts, they sent out another 8 bolts.  :y

I've used ECP as well.  :o  ;D  Never had a problem with them.  :y

Hello All :y
Thanks for all your welcome comments and advice
Looks like BuyPartsBy will be my best bet
Although will have to wait a week or two
Need to recover from the expense of replaceing with new
The two front wheel bearings
Along with the springs and shocks ::)
Luckily still have the timeing tool
And also the howto DVD from the last time
Now an essential piece of kit as I can't remember in full all the detail :'(
From the last time well over 4 years ago
Once more have to say
Great stuff the spirit of OOF still lives thanks all :y :y :y
