The headline down here is, we had a months rain in 24 hours
out and about I spotted several cars abandoned in awkward spots
towards the end of the video (2.32) the water lies right acrosss the road.

It's ok at that sort of speed and visibility. M3 south was appalling for visibility. Poor road surface I guess, although the level of standing water hadn't reached the level in the video.

Swimming.... ;D

Weekend before last on the motorway was awful, never seen it as bad as it was, had to stick at 50 mph all the way home pretty much. Been raining here a lot too, back to coats on now. Can't wash the cars, do any work or nothing :(.

Met a mate of mine last night. He's got a Defender TDi with a snorkel. Arrived with a grin on his face. Flooded railway bridge with huge traffic jam. He just cruises through with the water half way up the windscreen. ;D

Yes, the in car cameras are great - I've ordered a BlackVue 400HD, but the images they reproduce can be a bit of a double-edged sword sadly - should one decide to publish them. :-X

I suspect so. He remembered, just in time, to close those little vents under the windscreen, but his battery was swimming around in the seat box. ;D

i would have to question that.... :-\ the days of everyday Land Rovers doing that are gone, I had an ex army series 3 everything was sealed, all the electrics etc so was fine in deep water, brakes did not work afterwards though.... ::) ::)

Surly modern vehicles, with or without snorkels have too many electrical sensors, etc for them to get wet and continue to work OK.... ::) ::)  I accept that vehicles can be waterproofed fully for specialised use..... :y

Yep, the engine in this one doesn't use anything more exotic than clockwork. Certainly no electronics. ;)
