BUT ultimately, you want to reinstall Windows regularlyish anyway, so doing it when replacing the drive is the perfect opportunity :)

i know some people do this but i would do everything i can not to.  it is fine if you like windows as it comes but if you make any customisations you will have to re-do them all over every time you re-install.  so you would have to make a note of every customisation.  over the years i've made many changes and regedits, just one example i disabled my caps lock key As You Can See (shift works) and moved it to SCROLL LOCK.

Use GPO and save it. Seeeeemples!
