He basically did one thing we all know him for (and I'm sure a ton of stuff most won't be familiar with), but it was a very good thing!! May he get a good rest in before John Cleese croaks and is belting him over the head for all eternity  :y

Its sad to see the loss of a talent like him, while we are still stuck with talentless pygmies like Jonathon Ross and Russell Brand.

Always seemed to come across as a mild and dignified chap with a sense of playful mischief about him during interviews and such,I would like to think this was the real him and not just some public persona for the benefit of the cameras.I too of course remember him for his superb performances as Manuel.A sad loss.R.I.P.

I saw on his obituary that he was born in Germany. Who said Germans don,t have a sense of humour,

The partnership between Basil & Manuel was absolutely perfect and caused many a sore sides with laughter.
