By-elections are never an indication of national trends. Sitting candidates use them to try and make a point, and the electorate as up yours. Both happened here.

There are more members in the local Labour party, than people who voted for him, so even his own members couldn't be bothered to turn out for him, which is bizarre.
I must admit, I have trouble reading "Labour" and "decent" in the same sentence.

The worst aspect of the whole thing, is the sight of the poison dwarf (Farron) on every news channel, all day bloody long.

Met him once. Thought he was an ok bloke. Seems to me that coming from a wealthy background almost automatically tars you with a "rich B****rd" brush in some eyes. He didn't have to resign the Tory party over 3rd runway, could have just gone with whatever was most profitable or whatever.

There are a small number of politicians that have my respect as they did what they really believe, not what the party dictated. Robin Cook, Clare Short, Zak Goldsmith, and some others. Not that I agree with the reason for the resignation, just that I approve of their strength of feeling and that they were "principled" rather than sycophantic career politicians. like most of the others.

Tories will be peeed off at losing a seat, lib dems will be chuffed at gaining a seat that won't make a big difference in the scheme of things, labour won't care as this seat was a no-hoper for them anyway.

Well, I for one am not accepting the result of the by election vote. I strongly believe the people didn't really know what they were voting for. Im going to take it to the high court. 
Apparently Julia Hartley Brewer interviewed the newly elected MP on the radio today and tore her to shreds due to her complete lack of knowledge on anything outside her prepared scrip of soundbites.
Libdem spin doctor pulled her out of the interview live on air, it was so bad.
I must have a search for it on the interweb later. Im sure it will cheer me up no end.

I just wish we could get on with Brexit. We voted leave so lets get on with it.

Now David Davis is talking about paying to have access to the single market. A bit like still being part of the EU really. I'm confused.
