Likely culprit..........crank sensor.
Also check wiring to cam sensor (94) and MAF connection (74)

checked crank sensor where it plugs in at the rear of the engine. its plugged in, ive not been underneath it so it cant be that, i wonder perhaps the wiring bridge over the passenger side bank if ive knackered a wire?

Not doubting you but are you 100% sure, also are the leads secure in the dis?

i looked at the coil location on this photo http://images.omegaowners.com/images/guides/v6_engine_pics/IMG_0025.jpg mine is the other way round, as in the plug is at the opposite end and its mounted on its side.

Re: HELP!!!!!

managed to solve the problem I think,

the no6 plug lead in a word is f****d hence the misfire the first time.

the reason it wouldnt start the second time is because 2 and 4 lead were the wrong way round as i made a mistake looking at the key for a different coil when mine is the early one and the other way round.

thanks to Steve (tigers gonads) for coming round, nice guy.

Going to buy a new set of leads tomorrow and hopefully all will be well.....

As per Albs, vac leak, & sounds like knackered MAF. Carb cleaner around all the vac connections, listen for changes in the engine note

At one point, one of the ht leads fell apart.

This has now been replaced but could it have caused a spike somewhere and breaked something up ?

Thought about the carb cleaner but the engines hunting that much ( with the maf disconected ) that you couldn't tell anyway  :'(
It won't run without the maf plug out.
Would a vac pipe cause it to die but by disconecting the maf,  it runs  :-/

I have a 3.0 MAF or 3 here...although does sound a lot like there is an air leak...a bad one could be caused by the plenum not having been sat back in place properly when putting it back together...or an o ring jamming it slightly open...
