Looking good [smiley=thumbsup.gif].  At the risk of asking a silly question, how do you get these stickers?

probably been asked to do it like that cos the owners lost the radio code, i worked in the mechanics game for a few years and got out cos theres too many "tamperers".

Far better to loose the radio for a while, apply for the code and save the alternator ECU etc. in my opinion.

I am with Nildram whilst it is not the cheapest, it is a rock solid connection - never a moments down time (touch wood).  It is around £25.99 per month and I have no problems on my 2.2 Mb Connection.

This gives me a "fair usage" of 50Gb per month - which I never even approach but nice to have should the need arise.

Hope this helps

Basically it was damn uncomfortable and the driving position was bloody awful.

Thats very strange as i found the Zafira driving position very comfortable.

Being fairly tall (6ft 5) i find alot of cars awful, VW Bora, Ford Mundano to name a couple, but because the seating position is very 'chair' like (sitting upright) i thought it was realy good.

One of the most comforable things ive ever driven was a Transit (ones made after 2001), i could go to Cardiff (200 miles) without a single ache or problem, in the Bora i had to stop halfway to recover from the pain!!

I sometimes have to drive the company cars which are generally Golfs.  Always found them very hard and uncomfortable.  I own my own Transit van and this is, as said above, very comfortable and I can go for miles in it with no worries.  Mine is a 98 model though.

It is always nice to travel in the Omega, came to work in it today and must admit, despite the traffic, I arrived feeling very relaxed and calm.  Then an hour at work went by.......................

With everything off (except the engine! ;D) and the car in neutral, mine is 0.2.  With the car in drive at rest is hovers between 0.2 and 0.3.  With climate on, it is 0.3.  On a hot day with climate working hard, it is 0.4.  Things like heated seats rear window etc. do not seem to make a difference.

Hope that helps.

This sounds like a plan to me.  It may also be useful to do other Vaux suppliers, like Autovaux for example

Nice to see the old Rootes names being listed - Singer Vogue and Gazelle plus the various Hillman Avengers.

I forgot in my list above the vans.

I had a 92 transit 190 - J 967 AWE.  That was a great van, having done over 200K when I sold it.  Looking back, should never have sold it.

Now got a 98 Transit Hi Cube (the really tall and long one).  This has 150K

Also have a transit minibus, a 98 Transit.

Great to read about the cars that have been owned - I just wish I was old enough to drive when cars like the Avenger, Imp, Hunter, Sceptre etc. were still being produced!

Replying to the thread "1970s" got me thinking about the cars I have owned in the time that I have been driving (since 1992):

Here goes:

First car - I tried to stick to Rootes (or at least the old Rootes company) as Dad had a Hillman Minx which I loved.  I got a Talbot Horizon which was the closest I could manage. The reg was A 332 GPJ.  This lasted me all of 8 months before the rear suspension collapsed because of rust.  This number plate stood for "General Pile of Junk"  The sloppy gear change was the thing I remember most and the clattery engine.

I had a Fiesta which I paid £25 - this had 4 months of MOT and gave me 4 months of virtually free motoring.  I did not like it though.

I then moved over to Vaux, getting a MK3 Astra F 68 NNO.  I clocked up a huge milage in this - around 70K in 2 years.

Then got a Cavalier CDX, which I still have, in 1997.  This has 130K on the clock.

Nearly a year ago, I then purchased my Omega 2.5 CDX.

Which cars do you remember (fondly or otherwise)?

My old boss used to swear by the Nankangs that were on his BM when he brought it.  He covered over 30K in a little over a year and clamied that he could hardly detect any wear!  Not sure about that, but there was loads of tread left when he showed me.

He used to joke about them, calling them the "tractor" tyre!

If it works, works well, and costs less then so much the better!!

The windows staying powered up until you exit the car slipped my mind! That's my favourite. The number of times I have to get back into an unfamiliar car and put the key back in the ignition because I'd forgotten to put the window up before removing the ignition key's astronomical.

I prefered the old Senator/Carlton (& MkIII Granny) method whereby opening the driver's door powered up the windows - strange that this didn't apply to the roof.

Having to put the the key back also happens to me when I drive uncomfortable company cars (which are VW Golfs mainly).  Bloody annoying when you are used to better things!!

Opening the drivers door on my Cavalier CDX powers up the window circuits which I must say is a better arrangement, it is especially useful when cleaning the car as you can lower the widows slightly in order to clean the very top of the window.  Don't know why it does not apply to the roof - perhaps it is because the electrical current draw is too great??

The fact that you can turn on the interior light by pulling the headlamp switch, electric windows remain on after switching the ignition off (if you do not open the door), low drag coefficient, etc etc

My dad had a Viva - JEO 61H still remember the reg after 25 years.

It was red with a black pvc interior that would fry your legs on hot summer days - kids didn't wear sealbelts and the ICE was a radio with MW and LW.

Happy days  ::)

My dad had a Hillman Minx (hunter shape) which some on here will have seen me mention before.  I too remember the reg OHX 957 E.  It was blue and had a blue PVC interior.  Our legs fried on hot days and frooze on cold ones.  I well remember the MW and LW radio that used to fade in and out.

That car was replaced by another Hunter, this time the Chrysler version (a poor alternative to the Rootes product), reg DLF 517 T.  I still remember crying when the blue Minx went!!

After that, dad got a nearly new MK2 Cavalier, C 319 SLO.  This was red and he had loads of trouble with the Camshaft.  Mum and Dad then joined the VW camp, and I was then old enough to drive.

The hillman minx was a great car and I still to this day wonder what became of it...........

Personally, I would not worry so much about the engine bay - I don't believe in washing this area or keeping it spotless.  As AA says, at least it has not been pressure washed.  That being said, I would expect to see the bonet slam panel clean if it was a cherished car - in this example it is just a grubby as the rest of the bay.

Other than that it does not look bad, but shame that the pics are not better quality.  Agree with the Timing Belt change being required.  Ad does not mention anything about tyres etc.

To add to the remarks about the radio remembering the stations, this is indeed correct - my battery was off for over three weeks and the stations were still recalled.  Strange.

Also, why is the climate on high?  Is this because the lower settings are not providing enough heat?

Just my thoughts and 2p worth.
