Hi everibody.
« on: 12 November 2006, 15:29:55 »

Hello to everybody. I am new to this forum, I discovered it yesterday through a search engine and I found it useful to share experiences.
I have a modified Opel Omega 1995 MV6. I don't use it everyday because I also have an Audi A6 2.5 TDI V6 and a 2000 1.6 Vetra B, but nonetheless I use it quite often.
I am from Portugal so the specs of my MV6 here in Portugal may differ from MV6 Vauxhalls in England.
There is no sunroof but apart from that everything is there (everything electric)including heated leather seats.

Modifications so far:
NGK racing plugs
Magnecor 8.5mm racing HT leads
Chipped from a German Chipping company
BMC Air Induction kit
3 into 1 exhaust manifolds (X2)
Bastuck Exhaust from the manifolds
200 cpi sports cats
large bore throttle body and modified plenum chamber
Uprated fuel pressure regulator 4 Bar
IMOTEC con rods (safe up to 11.000 RPM, but the crank can not withstand it)
ARP conrod bolts
Fidanza billet ultra lightened and balanced flywheel
uprated Courtenay clutch
Scrick fast road camshafts
Ligtweith alloy pulleys
Lexmaul air box
Modified heads (free flowed but with standard valves)
KW Variant 2 suspension (coil overs) fully adjustable with kony dampers
Grooved and drilled disc brakes from Germany
Steimetz short shift billet gearchange to eliminate the truck type gearchange on Omegas (no longer available)
HID Xenon headlights
cool running thermostat
17" wheels with 255/40 Continental Contisport2 tires
etc,

Dino tested 285 HP

Yesterday I posted that to diagnose the car I use OpelScanner and I recommend it to everybody. See it at http://www.obd-2.de. It is German but there is an English version (worth every cent).
I also have the cheapo TECH2 but is not comparable to the OpelScanner.

I would like to know if someone has experience with:
VAUX-COMM at http://www.onboarddiagnostics.co.uk/content/category/2/5/2/
and
Vaucheck from Gendan UK http://www.enginecheck.co.uk/vauxcheck/

I would also like to know why software diagnostic tools made a difference between 1997 and on Omegas and prior to 1997, because I see no difference.

Cheers to everybody.

Welcome to site :)

The original diagnostic equipment (Tech1) didn't really work to well with Omega, due to way Omega uses 4 different diagnostic lines. It was bodged to work until the current tester (Tech2) was available.  Development of support for new ECUs stopped on old tester at this point.  When Tech2 software originally developed, only support for current ECUs was implemented.

Therefore, a Tech2 can be used on pre MY 1997 (ie about mid 1996) cars, as long as same ECU as MY 97 cars, and Tech1 can usually be used on post MY 97 cars, as long as same ECU as newer cars....

Hence my Tech2 can read all systems on a 1994 Omega except Infra Red central locking and Immobiliser system.

Hi mate and welcome to the forum. Were all the mods done at the same time, or at different stages? Which individual bits made the most improvement?
