my 2.2 miggy heater h.b.v.was faulty..thus no heat...changed it..bled system all ok.....car left standing for a day and no heat again....bled the system all ok...next day heater still ok nearly all day....left car standing over night,next day ..no heat.....bled system took ages but again heater working...today heater ok,drove 20 miles all ok....left car for two hours heater still ok..drove 15 miles no probs..left car for 5 hours drove home no heater......system and matrix have been flushed and all ok,,,,temp gauge rises as normal and engine does not over heat all hoses are hot including matrix hoses...Just dont understand why the heat keeps stoping but returns when system has been bled......now realy peed off with it all.........so please any help would be realy great ,thanks.

No coolant loss at all.....as for the air maybe it is being forced into the cooling system by the high performance and sound barrier breaking speed that my desmond does.. cheers folks.

I had a similar problem on an Omega 2.2 in June. I changed the HBV from above, but the sprung hose clips caused a kink in a hose on shoving the HBV back into its place. Cure was to replace the offending clip with a jubilee clip and tightening it with HBV in place. Pic follows, showing kinked hose from below.

I have read the info on here about,,resetting heater controls.........So I put the ignition to on and then pressed.....auto and off buttons together and held for a minute but didnt hear any resetting movement noises what so ever,all it did was to turn the fan speeds up from none to top level within the first ten seconds....is this right or am I doing something wrong once more..... thanks.....

I have done all of your kind answers and now found that by taking the air vac connector off the h.b.v and put a screw into the air vac pipe that I now appear to have heat.....does this imply that the h b v  that i fitted is naf or is something else broken...

Sounds like the servo which actuates the hbv could be suspect then...

Al.....sorry but does that mean h b v is faulty.....or is there a servo that works the h b v hidden away somewhere...if so can you tell me where it is hidden please..thanks,

Possibly both if it's letting air in

Off the top of my head I cannot recall whether applying a vacuum opens or closes the hbv, but from your description the vacuum holds it closed...

The actuator varies the vacuum according to the climate settings. Air in the coolant points to a leak in the Cooling system... Coolant out=air in...

Where did the hbv come from and was it new?

The one fitted was from a friend of mine who had a breaker and his h,b.v. worked..I actually tried it before fitting it by sucking the air outlet which you could hear the valve opening when suction applied...so due to know it was working assumed it is ok........I tried a reset by holding buttons auto and off  for a minute but did not hear any actuator noises,,resetting at all.....all that happened was the fans went from off to full speed...
