STEMO isn't that optimistic or cheerful ::)

None of this matters cause Mad, Bad Vlad is gonna vapourise us all anyway. So go out and enjoy yourself. :)
See...I can be cheerful.
-
I'm buggered then, being the stupid kid from the local comprehensive.

Well I'm 65 this year so obviously too thick to realise I should've turned my toes up long since ::)

It depends on the number of years of NI contributions you've made. If you have 35 years, the full pension is about £164 a week from April. Much better than most people think.
You really should be getting a pension forecast from Gov.UK, it's not difficult.
-
Oh.......and you have to claim it, it doesn't just land up in your bank account.
-
I went on line a couple of weeks ago to make sure I was in the time frame to retire at 65 having established that I went further to find out how much it was. There was a series of questions about me to make sure I am who I said and it wouldn't tell me as apparently I got the answers wrong :o :o
-
Didn't know I had to claim it as opposed to it being automatic. At what point do you submit the claim? Is it shortly before 65th birthday or wait until you actually hit 65?

You can claim within four months of your 65th birthday. They will try their best to make you do it online but, with you being an old codger and all (play on this, no understandee computers, etc) there is a phone line where you can at least get a forecast. Have you NI number, date of marriage, last place of work and all details of your wife ready for them.

You can get your forecast at any time, you don't have to wait until you are within four months.

Thanks for that info Stemo :y At least I'm off to a head start as I don't have to pretend not understanding computers 'cos I don't :D

It can all be done by phone, Baza. By definition, pensioners are not the best with technology. I didn't manage to get my forecast online, so I phoned up. It was comical, she spoke to me v e r y...s l o w l y like I was fickin demented. It was all she could do not to call me dear. ;D Got a letter from them with my forecast on.

didnt work for Mr Hawkins.
-
No, but it should have done; he was a remarkable man. :(
Ron.
-
Given that he lived 50 odd years longer than expected, I think that Mr Hawkins is a fine example of an intelligent person living longer. :y
Most people who are diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease last about 3 or 4 years. :'(

Sheer force of will?
