Omega General Help / 2.5TD Clutch Bolt On Question
« on: 09 March 2015, 19:26:44 »
Hi Guys

The last time I held a flywheel in my hand dual mass ones hadn't been invented, come to that, not even thought of, heavens how on earth did we manage without them  ;D

Ok I haven't stripped my clutch down yet and car's done 89500 miles, if you read my other thread you will see I'm having a little trouble with getting it to go into gear, having said that I can't feel any roughness or judder from the flywheel when it is going.

Question do the flywheels normally need changing along with the clutch on the Omega's and if so has anyone out there found a good site where you don't have to amputate your arm to pay for it.

Cheers

Omega General Help / 2.5TD Clutch
« on: 09 March 2015, 17:15:23 »
Hi Guys

First off I’m talking about a 2.5TD year 2000,  if I start the car up from cold I can’t get it to go into gear, by that I don’t mean the gears crash, they just will not physically shift in, I think the gear stick would bend before it will go into gear.

If I turn the engine off it goes into gear no probs. then press the clutch pedal down and then start the car it doesn’t jerk forward as through its in drive, I can just let the clutch pedal up slowly and it moves away as normal.

After I’ve driven the car for about 15 minutes or so, if I then turn the engine off and then restart it again, it goes into gear no problem at all, it’s as though the problem occurs after its been stood a long time and it’s not warmed up.

I’ve bled the concentric slave cylinder but no joy, the car has done 89500 miles, so I’m guessing it’s the original clutch.

I can’t say that I’ve noticed any clutch slip, in fact if I put into gear and try to drive off with the handbrake on it will stall the engine rather than slip.

Has anyone else out there had a similar problem, could it be that the clutch is not disengaging properly and as a result it’s dragging the gearbox input shaft around very slowly and it’s just enough to prevent gear engagement.
If that is the case I can’t understand why it will go into gear after it’s warmed up, has anyone out there had similar problems, I’d appreciate your comments.

Omega General Help / Omega 2.5DT Fuel Injector Update
« on: 20 July 2014, 23:18:30 »
Hi Guys

This is just an update on the fuel injector problem I had with my Omega, hope it may be useful to anyone with the same problem.

Just to recap the injector with the needle lift sensor wires was leaking where the two halves of the injector body screw into each other, also I’d managed to break a couple of the metal leak off tubes on one of the others, I’d been using a Sealey  injector socket, the type with a cut out window in it, personally I don’t think the Sealey one is cored out enough on the inside as a result it comes very close onto the leak of tubes, anyway I bought a different make which seemed a whole lot better.

Right back to the broken leak off tubes, there is a company in Reading who can repair them ie. fit new tubes, the website is www.peter-strong-diesel-fuel-injection.co.uk

The leaking injector body (the needle lift sensor one) I decided to replace with a new one, the main agent price was £290 inc vat I was told there was one to be had in the UK and four in Germany, well according to Vauxhall stock listing.

I manage to locate someone selling new ones for £229.99 + del on e-bay.
Seller is p38-spares located in Wales, the Omega shares the same engine as the Range Rover P38  mine’s a 2000 reg. so I needed the injector with the brown plug on the end of the lead as apposed the white plug which is for the earlier model.

I continued searching and found a website called www.bestpartstore.co.uk selling new ones for £184.98, although it’s a UK website the company is based in Germany, it said ready to be dispatched within 24 hours.
I order one and paid for it using my credit card through PayPal, a few days went past and I had not received an e-mail notifying of despatch, on a review forum I found out some people had been having issues with this company, so I ask why I had not received the injector only to be told they were out of stock and they had to order from the manufacturer, I got the injector in the end which took 2 weeks although their website continued to say dispatched with 24 hours, so my advice to anyone ordering off this company make sure you pay by credit card and don’t do it via PayPal just in case things do go pear shaped.

The injector has stamped on it India 902 KCA 21S 91 150 bar 101 and came in a box with a label saying Bosch 0 432 217 279, I have been told that this number is a Bosch number recognised by injector suppliers with the UK.

I fitted the injector and didn’t even bother to vent any air out of the system, a few turns of the key and the car was running, just one thing when starting the car don’t just hang onto the key, if it doesn’t start, switch off and try again because when I checked how long the supply voltage is supplied to the glow plugs, I found it is only on for 15 seconds before cutting off again.

Cheers

Omega General Help / Fuel Injector Info Needed
« on: 15 June 2014, 20:45:42 »
Hi Guys

I've a couple of questions about fuel injectors for the Omega 2.5DT year 2000.

I'm after a new injector (not second hand) for the above car, the one with the needle lift sensor wire attached to it.
Does anyone know where I can buy one at a sensible price, I've tried the main agents and they want £244.42+vat so if my sums are right I'd be looking at £293.30 with the tax mans cut.
I know I can surf the net, but its always worth checking on the forum as someone may have already found a site with a more sensible price, I don't even mind if its got to come from Germany.

The other question is:
As far as the electrics side of fitting the injector is concerned, is it simply a case of plugging the business end of the wire into the socket and starting the car up and purging the air out of the system.
In other words what I'm asking is, do these cars need to be programed to set the engine management system up if the injector as been replaced with a new one.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Guys

I've got the radio out of my Omega, the radio is a CCR 2006, does anyone know how to get the metal housing out, I think one of the barbs which hold the aerial in place as broken as a result when I pushed the radio in it's shoved the aerial socket right through the back plate.

Is there anyway it can be held in  place while pushing the radio in ie getting my hand round the back to hold it place or if anyone knows of a repair please don't hesitate to let me know.

Cheers

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CCR 2006
« on: 27 April 2014, 21:57:22 »
Hi Guys

Does anyone happen to have the front for a CCR 2006 radio they want to sell, I'm after one which is all black not grey and black.
I don't care if the radio or CD works as long as the flap where CD's and cassettes go in work, as I can cannibalize everything else off my existing one.

There are 4 grub screws which are used just to plug the holes where the removal pins (wires) push in and when the radio is out the front is held onto the chassis with 4 screws, haven't I manage to break the 4 plastic lugs where these screws fit.

Cheers

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Omega 2.5TD Glow Plugs
« on: 27 April 2014, 19:49:02 »
Hi Guys

Can anyone clue me up, I'm going to stick some new glow plugs in my Omega, all the plugs are out of the car at the moment and I've done a voltage check between the end of the wires where it connects onto each glow plug and I'm getting a reading of just over 12 volts for each of them, the connection last for 16 seconds and then cuts off.

Question: Is this normal or should it remain on for longer if the engine is cold.

I'm comparing it with an Isuzu Trooper and they glow for up to 3 minutes if the engine is cold and is so specified in the workshop manual.

Thanks for your help

Omega General Help / Vauxhall Omega 2.5TD Glow Plugs
« on: 23 April 2014, 21:30:44 »
Hi Guys

Can anyone suggest which is the best glow plug to put in the Omega 2.5TD.

NGK, Bosch, Denso or Beru unless of course there are better ones, I'm after something where the tip doesn't drop off into the engine if you get my drift, I'm also after the inlet manifold gasket set so if anyone knows of sites where the prices are reasonable please don't hesitate to let me know.

Omega General Help / It's just all Torque
« on: 04 July 2012, 23:04:44 »
Hi Guys

Does anyone out there know what torque setting the two halves of a fuel injector should be tightened up to on an Omega 2.5DT.
I don’t mean the torque for tightening to the cylinder head, only one of mine seems to be leaking at the point where they join and I understand they are just an metal to metal joint ie. no compound and non sealing washer.

Omega General Help / Haynes Manual
« on: 27 June 2012, 22:23:55 »
Hi Guys

Can anyone help me out here please, I’ve got an Omega 2.5TD year 2000 and I understand they have BMW engines in them as standard.
I’ve been told that Haynes does a manual which at least covers the BMW engine, which I understand is an M51 and the year would be 1993-4 to 2001 N reg – X reg.

Question can someone possible tell me what the ISBN number is for this particular manual as I’m having difficulty in finding it.

Many thanks

Clive
