Flywheel
« on: 11 March 2015, 13:58:34 »

Hi Guys

Can anyone shed some light, I think I’m in line for a replacement clutch, which I will buy myself and then get a garage to fit it.

Obviously I don’t want to cock it up and get the wrong clutch as it needs to be compatible with the existing flywheel.
Can anyone out there tell me, does the Omega 2.5TD year 2000 have a dual mass or a solid one fitted as standard?

I’ve got a part number for the flywheel from a main agent 90578064 but they can’t tell from their pictures if it’s solid or dual mass  :-\.

By the way the price for a new flywheel from the main Vauxhall agents is £618.00 + Vat, so that's a mere £741.60 as of 11/03/2015.

Thanks for any help

Where are you located Clive? There are a few members who may be able to assist with the clutch job depending on where you live. :y

It is a DMF and I am yet to see one fail.

99.9% sure you wont need one (and if you did, you would know by now!)  :y

Hello James

Thank you for your quick reply, I wish there was someone near where I live who could help, I’m in Stafford.
I have done clutches in the past, but I think I would be struggling to try and do it on my own now, times catching up I'm not as fit as I once was.

Cheers

Hi Mark

Thanks for the lowdown mate it’s much appreciated, at least I can now go ahead and order a clutch, well when I’ve shopped around.
I was rather hoping to get away with the existing flywheel as it isn’t making any noises.

I have to admit I’ve never had to replace a flywheel in all my years of motoring having said that they’ve always been solid ones and the price for the dual ones, well what can I say the Vauxhall agents say how much they are as though they are a bit of back pocket loose change.

Thanks again

I believe both elite pete and loo knee are close to you

Failing that give me a shout, I have some time off and could potentially assist :y

Hi again James

Must admit I’ve never asked anyone to help me fix a car before, I suppose I can’t help thinking I’d have a bit of a bloody cheek asking really, the two guys you’ve suggested I’ve never even had any dialogue with, having said that I guess I’m not on the forum all that often.

It looks as though its a fair distance between you and me and if I do it at my place it would have to be on my driveway as I can’t get the car into the garage as it’s full, not that I haven't worked on them outside before, it's just if it's throwing it down I tend to leave it until it stops.

I suppose at the end of the day I could do most of the stripping its mauling the gearbox and bell housing off and then getting it back on which I couldn’t do now.
