Headlight adjusters
« on: 15 February 2011, 23:26:29 »

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to replace broken adjusters for xenon lights. If so where can they be obtained & any hints on how to fit same.  :-?

I wimped out and got another couple of lights and swapped them over. I thought, perhaps wrongly, too much hassle. Two complete lights with over £140.00 worth of bulbs in situ...£100 smackers.

you must have too much disposable cash.  ;) Either spend c£25 to fix what you already have or .............. £100 to hopefully permanently fix with 'new' parts.  ;) ;) ;)

So, 25 quid for a permanent fix or 100 quid for something with the same weakness  :y

BUTTTTTTTT.......got the bulbs also.

The idea of putting my headlights in the wife's oven to help remove the "glass" was FAR to scary a prospect to contemplate. She's South African....learnt VERY quickly NOT to invade her kitchen for ANY reason.

Theres no need to put them in the oven just go around the seam with a paint stripping gun on a low heat setting to soften up the sealent. The lens pops off very easily. The aluminium adjusters sold as replacements are excellent.

Sadly I then discovered the joke chroming on the reflector lens which peels quicker then a sunburnt albino.  >:( >:( >:(

These lamps really are a complete load of Sh*t.  >:( >:( >:(

Yep I also wimped out putting my headlamps into the oven but did find using a hot air gun just as good.

As a tip get yourself a few slips of card or thin plastic to push under the various "tangs" that also help to hold the lens onto the body. Otherwise they keep springing back or snap off.

The sealant is like goo and sticks to everything. Try not to get any onto the reflective(mirror) surfaces. Like markrl I found that if you wipe them then the mirror surface easily comes away. Solvent takes it off even quicker!!
