7 SAFE - Bosch CD Player Jammed
« on: 16 February 2011, 12:32:45 »

After changing the battery in my mates S Reg Elite his BOSCH sound system (sot sure of the model) has jammed up.

I thought the 6 was an 8 when entering the code, originally it said SAFE 10 now it says SAFE 7 and will not let me enter anymore codes.

Anyway around this?

1st attempt fail.......10 secs (shows SAFE 9)
2nd     "         " ........   "  (shows SAFE 8)
3rd      "         "        10 mins (shows SAFE 7)
I think it`s app. 20 mins before you can try again.
Display will show CODE for a few seconds then you can input the code :y

7 SAFE can be anything up to a maximum of 2 hours with ignition left on continuously

Do not enter the same code for a fourth time though, as obvious you are using the wrong one !

Give me a yell if you need it decoding

Just a quick question.

If you have entered the wrong code a few times and you are getting the attempt countdown 10, 9, 8 etc does it go back to 10 attempts once you get the code right?  :)

Yep :)

95% of the time the counter will reset,
but not on every model, no.

No, this is where it gets a bit confusing.

Entering a correct code number will always reset the penalty timer back to zero, so next time a code is entered you do not have to wait to do it, and each incorrect code entry will then result in having to wait, 10min, 20mins etc etc.

However, some Vx radios (CCRT range and some CDR500) will only allow you a certain number of attempts throughought the lifespan of the radio, and even the insertion of a correct code will not reset this.

For instance some versions of CCRT2008 have a maximum of 20 wrong attepts - and if you had waited the 48 hours to enter the 15th code, even though the penalty timer would reset, there would still only remain 5 attempts left next time around.

Ever wondered why a CDR2005 left switched on with 7 SAFE showing sometimes never resets after the supposed 2 hours to allow another code? Thats a classic one of radio locked out !

This is why is it all so important to get it right and enter a correct code each and every time.

OK, not come across that situation yet.

I have a ccrt700 and a ccrt2008 here, might have to see if I can blow them up when I get time ;D ;D

(actually, the ccrt2008 would be a same, its a peach of a unit)

I just knew it would not be simple!!

Can't understand why the manufacturers would make it so the counter cannot be reset after a correct code entry?
I have one of those CRT 700's so I must be more careful when inputting the code from now on.
