I need advice on what HU should be fitted to my BOSE equipped 2000 m/y Omega Elite as I'm sure it shouldn't be the CCR 2006, the car pass states radio type as 0206, can anyone shed any light on this please ?

The original VX sales brochures are quite useful in giving the options available for each particular model when new. This includes the particular radio systems available per middle. There were usually two publications issued each year (the date is in the outer rear cover), so you need the correct era for your car, not forgetting they are printed in advance of your car rolling off the production line.
Alternatively if you go to you local (friendly) VX dealer he can print off a list of the actual equipment fitted to your vehicle when new.
I say friendly, because it involves pressing a few more buttons on their keypad, and often the CBA or 'too hard to do' attitude kicks in. They can do it, because I have asked and got the necessary details for my cars.
There is also a German website which can supply this info - all you need is the chassis no.
I don't know whether the website is still going, as it was a few years ago when last did it, but I can check this evening if it is still current if you wish.

CCR2006 is the correct standard fit unless it's a 3.0 v6 which had the NCDC2013.

My 3L Elite-a year 2000 face lift-has a bose CCR2006 which is what it left the factory with.

Just to add the info display thing has 3 lines of info on it at any one time and in the case of my car it came with the Traffic Master system fitted[the button for this is still there fairly low down just outboard of the steering column]

strange, an elite 3.0i that passed through my hands had a ncdc2013 satnav and trafficmaster

also a 2000 model brochure suggests otherwise

Just noticed the second hand car dealer has given me the car pass from another vehicle as it states engine type Z22XE, not for my 2.5 Elite, the radio code works so this must prove the CCR 2006 that for some reason he fitted is not for a BOSE equipped Omega Elite such as mine, any more ideas

It cant just be any Bose HU, it will need to match the Display type you have for an easier replacement.

Im guessing if youve already got 2006 in there, it will be a MID, if so is it working with the HU, does it power up BOSE on the display?.

In fact before start buying stuff and ripping things apart, What is the problem with it exactly.

It wont play through all of the speakers and the volume changes dramatically with each click of the dial, makes the odd sort of feedback noise now and then so I'm guessing he has messed about with one from another car (as car pass code would suggest) the removable h/u section does not fit properly, wont go back flush with the rest of the surround, just seems to me like its the wrong one.....

Have you checked that part of the loom is not stopping it from slotting fully home?

What sort of money is a reasonable price for a Bose CCR2006 if one can be found?[I'm after one as mines packed up]don't really want to be ripping out wiring/sourcing new speakers to fit a different hu if I can help it,but if they're too pricey that's what I'll do and fit my single din Blaupunkt and 10 disc changer instead[not too fussed about steering wheel controls or display on mid]

Why dont you ask RobseyMV6 is breaking a 2.6 and 3.2 Elite in the Sale section, one of them has probably got a Bose CCr2006 HU in it.

if it has Bose speakers you'll need to change them as they are not compatible with "standard" car audio.

If it was a Bose equipped car and you changed to a non Bose or third party head unit you will need to change the 2 ohm speakers to 4 ohm and unplug the Bose loom from the multi plug behind the drivers kick panel then fit a loopback wired multi plug - this effectively loops the speaker outputs from the head unit back to the speakers whereas when the Bose loom is plugged in it takes the Bose level output from the head unit to the Bose Amp then back from the Bose amp to the speakers - it puts the Bose amp in the middle from a wiring point of view.

Ok I have some more info, the volume does not respond at all now and its loud, when turned on it does not display BOSE on the multi display, which as it happens is a 4 line display, does this shed any more light on whether the dealer threw in the wrong h/u ?

Thanks in advance for your patience, I really want to get this sorted as I need to have a working sound system as I am a musician and have to listen to lots of new material to familiarise with and its a great time to do that on the road as I don't get distracted by the usual stuff at home

I would suggest[though I stand to be corrected on this] that as it doesn't display the word "Bose" on the dash display when you turn it on and given your volume woes that your hu is a non bose version,although I believe some can be programmed to become bose[again could be wrong]but I don't know how you tell which ones can be altered.

I *think* the 'Bose Sound' briefly on the display is due to screen programming, not HU, and even then, not all Bose equipped screens do it.

Does this tell if it is Bose version or not ?

I'm with Zirk on this . . . Robsey may well have a Bose CCR2006 . . .

Loud volume increase with every "click" of volume control is the classic Non Bose HU fitted to a Bose set up I believe. Also the fact you say the HU does not go right back flush would suggest that something else is amiss here . I would remove it & check that nothing is snagging when pushing it back in . However if it is a non bose HU into a Bose system this will not change anything as regards sound. Have you got the original HU or did dealer/seller keep it when the replacement was fitted ? Lastly . . . .been a while since I had a Bose CCR2006 . . .but seem to recall it does say "Bose" or "Siemens" on the Hu facia somewhere ( maybe the cassette flap ) Non Bose 2006's say "Phillips" on that cassette flap I think $:-\$ $:-\$
