I often get to the petrol station with 2 or 3 miles left. I have been to zero before which was a touch squeaky bum but didn't cough or anything. Which gives credence to the theory that there's still probably a good couple of litres (I guess) even after the dash says you're empty.

You are a brave man filling up at range 1 mile. My memories of Omega ownership include a strong one of always filling up every journey I made. A feeling akin to going to the gallows (I imagine ) came as soon as the red light came on.  :o

When I bought my Mv6 it's range was showing at 9 miles, and by the time, i'd test driven it and driven it to the petrol station, it was showing 0 (I think)

In the Jag, the book states:
Fuel capacity: 17g
Fuel capacity to empty: 15g

So to me, that's 2 gallons left at empty. But being lorry fuel, they are keen for you not to run out.

Interestingly, the petrol variant is:
Fuel capacity: 18g
Fuel capacity to empty: 17g

So real fuel has a bigger tank, plus it lets you run it dryer...

Before lockdown, i was achieving 28 mpg, and since lockdown I've been achieving 15 mpg.
I should think about a more environmentally friendly car.
Before lockdown I was spending £70 a week on fuel and since lockdown, I've spent £170 on fuel.

That's to say assuming that your mileage hasn't changed, you have doubled your pence per mile. (I assumed 300 miles for £X amount so 23ppm doubling to 56ppm).

If you were doing longer journeys and having to buy more fuel, your economy would improve, so your ppm would stay nearer 23ppm, and if you're using your car less, you wouldn't be using as much fuel. I think the worst I managed from an Omega was 220 miles from a tank. So even on that basis, you would only manage 38ppm and have travelled twice the mileage.

Basically £170 will fill it up twice ??? So either your leaving it idling all day or you have a significant leak.

£170
Per week  :-\
OR in total because you're not using it much  :-\

Are you talking about the first alleged lock down in March, or all of the so called lock downs since? The one we're supposedly on now certainly doesn't seem like that around here.  ;D

I've just put 78 litres into The Barge to fill it.

I expect that to last until March ;D

Due to not having been near LPG, I put 90 litres of petrol in the 4.4 V8 Rangie earlier, at total cost £117.

19.7 Gallons in total. So at a (very generous) 15mpg, that will give me a range of 296 miles.

Oh well  ;D ;D :y

I've just been Top Trumped by James ...  ;D ;D ;D

I though £92 was bad enough :o

The Barge tank is 88 litres from memory, so it probably had another weeks worth in it, although the range wasn't too optimistic ;D

Back when petrol was £1.35 a litre, I managed to get over £90 in my estate one evening.

£12 gets me around 100 miles, and just as well the mileage I (normally) do.
