rear/rear subframe mounts...not donut type
« on: 03 June 2014, 11:35:09 »

 :-\
has anyone had any dealings with the rear/rear mounts on the subframe....
the pair close to the rear diff mounts....
finding new ones is a bit of a quest....
mine are all torn, including the front mounts (found and ordered)
the rear ones however..... any advice from the masses??

thanks in advance.... :)

No longer available. I stripped all the rubber off mine and filled the void with a poly compound... takes some careful preparation to ensure that the central block is correctly positioned, but one of three options...

1. Do nothing.
2. Replace with good secondhand. (Good luck finding them)
3. Repair.

Use the search on here to see my posts about my repair :y I can't remember whether it was a separate thread or buried in the "What have you done to your car today..." one :-[

Was late November iirc :-\

Never let anyone jack on the dif on an omega. It will rip the rear mounts rubber apart.

Higher mileage ones become un bonded due to salt/general erosion of the aluminium. From what i've seen of these they will normally last 150k assuming no jacking if course.

No longer available from vx as Al says. So if your ever in a scrappy grab what you can. They are the same on all models.

Has anybody tried or approached power flex with the dimensions of said bush,or do pedders do an equivalent for say the early Holdens with a harrop diff., with a veiw to a group buy,as they are now an NLS item :)

Powerflex took measurements of the rear subframe front donut bushes before we did the group buy from Pedders.

Long before actually. The sales team decisded there where more lucrative...

Yes we did, no they didn't. Not likely too either.

Holden dif's are different with a direct mounting point. But it's not a mounting that is related to the dif.

It's the rear of the subframe, to the body floor. There are seperate cylindrical bushes that hold the dif to the subframe, these never fail, luckily.

So its a rear subframe mount to floor. Rather than a bush, as such. Although it is rubber bonded like most bushes.

These buggers. The ones that are undone to change the rear springs.

Harrop diff cover mounts use two bolts for each mount and the dimensions are different, sadly...

Too add, non Harrop monaros have a single centre mount ws the diff is bolted straight to the subframe unbushed. Again two vertical bolts at the rear mounting rather than one central bolt and two bushes :y

Not for the want of looking :y

Nearest I've found so far is.... Second pic down

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w126-s-se-sec-sel-sd/1268836-rear-subframe-mounts.html

But again, no idea on scale/size in those pics. Plus looks like 4 bolt holes to the floor, but might be able to drill for a single bolt either side.  :(

It's as much about the spacing where it bolts to the floor pan. In fact the subframe bolt position gives scope to raising/lowering the rear ride height...

Further googling shows its a single rear dif mount on the Mercs, where as the omega has two, so is roughly double the size and probably price of what we're looking for. :(

When searching Google images one or two results suggest that might be worth looking into.

But don't tell Esta, we'll never hear the last of it. ;D

Those look like a good replacement for Carlton/Senator diff mounts as they`ve been nls for a while now
