VF are now offering free Voice, Text and Data Roaming (same allowance as your home tariff) in selected Countries for pay monthly customers as from today.

Can only be a good thing if the other Networks follow suit.  :y

Or until Brexit kicks in.  ;D

So my Home Media Server runs Plex with various NowTV Boxes plugged into various devices.  :y

Well, not anymore, I mean there still plugged in, but have all been bricked by Sky's lastest OTA Update within the last few days, No more Media System, now I stuck with NowTV and Catch Up Channels only.  :'(

Was working effortlessly over the last few years, My Music and Video Media, on My Hard Drive, through My Network, on My Devices, on My NowTV Boxes, all paid for, has been killed off by Sky's Big Brother.  >:( >:(

General Discussion Area / SD Cards Dont Fail do they
« on: 14 March 2017, 20:10:58 »
Well we all know they do, and if you dont you should do.

Just had another one fail, thats 2 now since Xmas, and where not talking rubbish ones either, genuine SanDisk Extreme 64gb.

Pulled it from a switch off Android, into the PC, hmm, thats not right, fuffed around for a while, ejecting, re mount it etc, soon become apparent some thing was wrong, 59gb storage, 59gb free, and a load off garbled file names on there, hmm, back in the Android just in case, nope same deal, back in the PC, now running CHKDSK etc, no joy, ok, thats f**ked then.  ::)

Now I do do Backs Ups, once a week with PC stuff, but If Im totatally honest with myself, I couldn't remember the last I backed this SD Card up,  :(, so theres bound to some Photos, Docs and other crap thats on there that may not be backed for a while, OneDrive, and some other Cloud stuff I use should have done its job, yea right  :-\, so that should lust leave any Docs and Files I stored since last back.

So, ready to Format, I then released some old Utilities I used to use, EaseUs Data Recovery, but unfortunately thieve changed the rules and the newer Free version only lets you recover 500mb now without paying ransom money, as do most of these Apps, not much good for a 64gb Card, then remember another one from our friends of CCleaner, Piriform Recuva Free Version, so gave that a go, 2 hours later of scanning, hey presto, recovered over 100gb of Data (the more than 64GB size is due to previous over written stuff on the Card), so selected what I wanted to recover across to the PC, pretty much recovered what I needed, so job done and on this occasion lucky.  :y :-[

If you want to download for a rainy day - https://www.piriform.com/recuva

General Discussion Area / These Supermarket Real Ale 5L Mini Kegs
« on: 13 February 2017, 20:03:23 »
Haven't tried them, but been noticing these a lot lately in various Supermarkets, 5 Litre Kegs of Beer around the £15 mark, Anyone tried them?

Has a quick google on the Adnams Website, these are aperently the same beer from the Brewers Vat that go out to the Pubs in Cask form, so Live Beer rather than the Pasterised stuff in the Bottles and Cans.

Ive seen, Hobgoblin, Adnams Broadside, Old Specked Hen, Adnams Bitter, Fullers to name a few, all in the same Mini Keg format, guessing if it is a Live Beer then use by dates could be a bit hit and miss, cant be a bad thing if its the new craze, anyone?

General Car Chat / Embarrassed MOT Man
« on: 09 February 2017, 12:21:29 »
Just got back from a MOT Garage, took one of the Neighbors Corsa in, shes a retired lady who asked me to take her car in as she always feels uneasy being a female with Garages and the car always seems to fail every year therefore repair bills etc, she always uses the same Garage.

Whilst Im waiting for the Mot to be done, Im reading the previous Mots Paperwork from the Car, the Fails, the Advisories, Work done etc, mainly through boredom.

Mot finished, its failed on excessive play, OS Track Rod End, plus theres a couple of Advisories. Chap starts asking if I want the works done, rough cost etc, I reply 'I need to make a phone call'.

Just before the Phone call, I remembered something about Track Rod fail from a previous Mot, initial thoughts were, its probably the other side. Checked the Paperwork, it was last year, same deal Off Side, slightly confused, double checked Mot paperwork and repair cost Invoice, same Garage, yep OS, then stuck the head underneath and checked both sides, hmmm, they both look original to me, certainly not a year old or around 3000 miles later.

Goes back in the Garage and calls the Guy over, 'can I have a word', hands him the paperwork, 'Do you want to check the Paperwork first, or do you want to look at both the Track Rod Ends and then check the Paperwork?', a confused look on his face, some paperwork reading, goes and looks at the Car, comes back, more paperwork reading more confused looks, then grabs another chap they both go and look at the car, one comes back, goes back out with a wire brush looks again, quiet closely this time, comes back more reading between the two of them, then comes over to me as says, 'Ok, Can you leave this with me', 'What does that mean exactly' I asked, 'Well, as we did the work then there will be some sort of Warranty'?

Outcome was, left the Car with them, hmm, expecting a phone call later, hopefully something along the lines of "all done, works done, MOT done, No Charge perhaps??.

Your thoughts, advice??

General Car Chat / EuroCarParts Price Hiking
« on: 04 January 2017, 13:06:41 »
Todays New Code is JANSALE in there "Up to 55% Off Everything", get you about 25% Off.

The old XMAS code seems to still be working in there "Up to 69% Off Everything" gets you about 33% Off.

Word of warning though during these Periods ECP have highly over inflated there prices again (i thought they stopped doing this, seems not), think the clue here is when they do a "Up to XX% Off Everything" against a standard "XX% Discount Code".

Example, needed some bulbs, most of there rear bulbs are normally something like 27 to 50p each etc, all these bulbs where priced at 99p during the Xmas period, 33% Off 99p, you get the idea.

Also needed a couple of Batteries Type 100, 70Ah price went up to RRP £104, now reduced to ECP price £87 each, with 33% Off, works out, £58 each, then go on ebay to someone like CarParts4Less, same Battery, same make and spec £47 inc free delivery, delivered by, you guessed it, ECP.

Dont get me wrong theres bargains to be had, especially the BOGOF and Half Price Oil Offers etc, but you really need to do your Homework first before diving in with there Offers if your planning on spending a few quid.

Transit 2011 2.4 Diesel 100/T350, been tasked with changing the Battery ('ies) on this, looks like the seat has to come off?

I quick look whilst the seat is still fitted is it looks like 2 batteries under there?, looks all a bit tight, anyone know what battery types these are so I can a least get the batteries ordered prior to doing the task.

did a google but no joy.
