New VX cam cover gaskets
New Bosch twin electrode plugs
New Bosch 8mm leads
New Bosch coil pack
New gates timing belt and power steering belt

A stack of bills history and VX service book with plenty of stamps

Omega General Help / 2.5TD issue.
« on: 15 October 2013, 20:51:40 »
I have done a search but didnt find anything matching this issue.

The car runs fine for the most part but gear changes are a bit of a trick.  As you dip the clutch and lift off the power the EML comes on momentarily. If you wait for it to go out (only about a second) before lifting the clutch then all is fine.
If not then the car hesitates to the point of severe engine braking - quite a hard jolt before picking up again.

I have checked for stored codes and have the following codes:
91 & 92 - cruise control apparently although its not fitted.
64 - Fuel quantity control device voltage low - present

Obviously I have seen plenty of posts about code 64 and will try the diesel magic solution, but I have not found any posts referencing the same symptoms.

Any guesses?

Thankfully no.
Mine is living happily with its new owner, although its coming back later to have the cam covers resealed again.

8
Yeah Its going to be broken now.
As soon as the owner gets a price list together I will be posting it up.

I,m really curious as to what would have caused this though.
Usually the powersounder will ignite at the sounder itself, no?

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Re: Wanted - Estate load cover.

MFL.
May have found one but waiting for confirmation.

The car was on loan to a friend at the time.   :o
Of course when I was told the car had caught fire I assumed power sounder but no...

As it was being parked up there was a burning smell then the drivers footwell erupted in flame!
Has anyone heard of this happening or have any ideas as to what could have caused it?  As far as I'm aware the intention is to repair the wiring which shouldnt present any problems, but that would possibly be treating the symptom and not the cause.

Any pointers welcome!!!

EDIT:

As I posted this I got a text saying the damage was greater than first thought, so the car is being offered for parts.

Does anyone have a good load cover going spare?
A good friend has just bought a 2.5 diesel estate and I would like to help him out.

Cheers.

It was sad to see it go but I just couldn't afford the fuel demands anymore.

Yes but you will need to fit the flywheel off the manual engine using new bolts, and you will need to fit a spigot bearing.
Total cost about £20-30.

If you already have the same spec engine in the car then you can just use the existing loom and ECU.
