Heya guys, got my self a oil catcher tank, but just trying to figure out the best route for it, would it be inline from the crank case breather pipe into the tank and then back into into the plenum rails? Getting annoyed with oil residue going back into the induction (stupid idea vauxhall) ;D cheers!

Just clean the breather system properly, no need to modify it.

Il second this too. No need to fit an oil catch tank because there shouldn’t be any oil in a properly functioning breather system just fumes only

Once you get to around 200k you do get some oil condensating in the bag pipes after a run, but certainly nothing to bother with beyond a wipe out periodically :y

Sorry bout late reply people!, well im only on 132k and I've got loads of oil being fed back into the plenum, that's pooling at the bottem of the dual ram system, but ill try it and see how it goes, it benefits alot of other cars, and now ive got it, might aswell :D hey.. plus.. it's shiny :y

Probably been neglected then...
Buy the top intake hoses for the 3.0 as they have a spigot on them for you to attach your shiny bits...
But, better preventative maintenance makes it a moot point and stuffing more crap in the engine bay really won't help cooling ::)

No offence intended. So please don’t take it as such but when you say it benefits lots of cars could you be more specific.ive seen these on many cars over the years at shows.either plumbed into the existing setup in line or even just open vented and filtered and never understood any benefits.if the manufacturers designed the breather system with its built in gauze to collect oil then theoretically there should be no oil except maybee as dg says on higher mileage stuff.i know its part of the PCV system and is recirculated back into the induction tract to mix with the incoming air and the engine will run better without it (just pure air rather than crankcase fumes)but Then we’re talking an atmosphere vented system which Isn’t applicable here.( older stuff with wire gauze filtered rocker cover oil filler cap)
with a catch tank in line I suppose all you are doing is just catching any oil before it goes through the inlet tract .on a v6 that would mean putting it in line with the main breather before it splits into the y joint .thoroughly cleaning the breather. BOx at the rear should hopefully eliminate the need for it thou

The only real need for a catch tank comes when you've radically changed the intake setup - installed Weber carbs or injection throttle bodies or somesuch, or gone forced induction.
Production cars are designed to burn any rubbish that comes out of the breathers, so they don't need them.

My 3.2, has done 133k, only ever had decent oil, 5w30 full fat, changed every 10k, doesn't use a drop between services, breather system kept clean.
Don't use Castrol oil..
Have you checked the breather box isn't blocked.
Two small holes in that need to be clean, don't make them bigger, just clean with a pin,and brake/carb cleaner.
