That's a very nice looking car! I often wish I'd had a Carlton or Senator when they were around. I've always wanted a 3000 GSi and I still do. When the lottery numbers come up I can always get myself a Lotus!

My Carlton (omega A ) looks the same colour  :y
 Vauxhall codes: 87L, 87U, 137 'Rembrandt Silver'
silver on the log book  ;)

Thanks! How silvery or goldy is it in person?

I haven't actually seen this Omega yet, I'm just brave  :y

I've got an old laptop on Windows 7 that I use just for Tech 2 stuff - would it be a pain to swap for this?

I don't think that is gay (Champagne) gold, and its certainly not the even gayer Oyster, as that was FL only.

The DVLA thinks it's silver!

looks very tidy  :y
solid underneath ?

The MOT history would suggest so! I haven't actually seen it yet but as good V6 manuals are getting hard to find, I wanted to put a deposit down to secure it. I've been after one for ages and if this is anything like as good as it seems, I'll be absolutely delighted. I spoke to the seller on the phone and he seems a nice guy and everything seems to check out.

The last MOT was in January and the advisories were minor corrosion to brake lines. That was the first advisory it has EVER had!

I've been waiting for the right manual V6 to turn up for ages and I think it has. Collecting next Sunday.

Real shame how they've gone. I was offered a nice 3.0 MV6 manual a few years ago for next to nothing and I turned it down, not realising how soon they'd all be gone. Of all the cars I've turned down, that's the one I regret the most

OK, I haven't actually picked this up yet (collection day is next Sunday), but I've agreed to buy this and paid a deposit. I'm very excited!

Pics to come shortly

Nice little article. There seemed to be way more manual V6s for sale just last year - has this winter killed them off?

I'm kicking myself for missing one that came up last year. I was on my way to see it (a day later than planned) when the seller called me to say it had been sold.

Hmmm, can I be persuaded to remove the cams before it gets turned to baked bean tins....  ....its done 232k though.

Which shows these engines can go on. They like regular oil servicing, but GM oil is cheap.  Its the rust that kills 'em

If you did want to let the cams go separately I'd be interested for sure. Thanks for the tip - I'll start a proper thread for future enquiries  :y

An MV6 with LPG sounds appealing on the face of it! I'm guessing there's more to it than that  ;D
Its metalwork is like swiss cheese ;D

 ;D

I've never welded in my life!

After reading around the site a bit, I'm feeling like I would like a 2.5 CDX manual with a set of 3.0 cams in it. I'll get searching for a set of cams I guess!

Why? Fit the whole 3.0l

Hmm, good point. I don't think I've got the skill for a full engine swap really. Cams though I can manage

Oh yeah, I'm expecting a prospective Omega to be boatier than the Astra but rewarding in its own way. I've had everything from superminis through pickup trucks and a V8 Range Rover and back to hot hatches so I'm part of a broad church  :y

But my mate reckons that it's best to go from a V8 Range Rover to an MV6 if you want to find the fuel economy acceptable  :'(

OK, mine is a Z20LER so it is a Z20LET but might need an LET ECU amongst any other loom stuff

Food for thought when the M32 gearbox inevitably gives up  :P

Thank you all for the welcome! I'll mostly be reading and asking the odd question here and there  :y

That might be a better idea now you mention it!

Is it just as easy as that?
