Pads & Disks
« on: 08 May 2018, 23:07:13 »

Recomended brand names for above replacemrnt.

I think I have a set of Apec pads the I bought for the 99 MFL 3.0 Elite, not sure if the will fit the 03 2.2

Either way just looked on EuroCP

Eicher

Pagid

Brembo

Choices, any better than others?

TIA :y

I only have experience of Pagid in the above list. Just fitted a complete set of Pagid front and rear discs and pads to my wife's Honda, and happy with them. They are coated as well, which means the hub doesn't rust as quickly.

Apec are adequate if you don't drive the car hard, should be the same for 3.0/3.2 :y

Agreed, but if prices are similar I would go for Brembo.

'03 2.2 pads are Vauxhall part nr. 9192124, I believe.
There's surplus dealer stock genuine Vauxhall for £10.50 delivered. Or make an offer.

The disks are much of a muchness, I would go for a coated pair.

The opening post says an '03 2.2? (Which could mean a 16V petrol or a manual diesel.) These have solid rear discs don't they. Or was that a typo? Anyway the pads I posted the link to are for the standard vented front discs.

Front pads are same across the range from '98 MY,

Rear pads are the same as Carlton (with rear discs). Only the fitting kits that vary according to disc type.  :y

TC pads and discs every time if on a budget. Nothing matches them for the money.

I have yet to warp TC discs, yet all the once quality brands that are all shite now, such as Mintex and the like warp within weeks. Even Pagid have now started throwing out shite (unless ECP have found a non genuine source - and I wouldn't put them past getting up to their old tricks), with the last set of pads (for the Zafira) being skipped after 3 or 4 weeks, as they simply wouldn't stop the car.

Trade Club...

Presumably manufactured to a spec for GM by ANOther component manufacturer. Actual manufacturers will vary from time to time ;)

And work in MK, which on the 70mph grid roads is 12 roundabouts across.  Flat out going hell for leather, and hitting traffic enough to have to stop completely at every one, TC pads/discs are good for 9-10 before the pads are just too hot to stop decently.  By the 12th, often the pedal is shot.
