DTM
« on: 26 August 2019, 09:03:11 »

Before heading out for the day yesterday I saw[first time in years] on TV one of the German DTM races, these don't seem as popular manufacturer wise as they once did.Out of a grid of 18 cars there were 8 Audi 6 BMW and 4 Astons.I remember there used to be Mercs,Opels etc.,is it a dying series?

Perhaps car manufacturers are spending all R&D money on milk floats and fuel efficient Euro sh!t boxes ,and not much TV coverage they can't be bothered  :-\

Having been around in a previous life, when they had Omega A evolution, and Merc cosworth,  it certainly is a shadow of its former self.

Yes whether you consider 18 cars per grid/race or not the shortage of different manufacturers does make it something of a poor showing for what was/is their premier road racing series.I recall that at one time Opel also fielded the Calibra  in this series.
