General Discussion Area / Hi-Lo Pir Availability
« on: 19 April 2016, 08:56:12 »
In need of a new PIR.

We have had for years, a hi-lo type.  Come on at dusk, at set dim level, when pir triggered, goes to full brightness, then back to dim again.
These were readily available years ago when I fitted it.

Now, can I find one, can I hell?  Anyone seen them recently?  or know why they seem to have vanished?

General Discussion Area / BT Fibre speed increase
« on: 15 April 2016, 18:06:21 »
Just seen if you order infinity 1, the speeds are now 52 meg down not 38.

Also available if you recontract.

Wonder if they will do the same with inifinity 2 at some point soon?  Hope so, but would have thought they would have done them both together.

General Car Chat / Lambda sensor recommendations
« on: 14 April 2016, 18:26:58 »
Need a new rear sensor : 9199469

Best part of £150 at Vauxhall

Online, varying makes from £20 upwards, along with seeming different part lookup references on different sites.

Anyone recommend a good value & reliable replacement for a 3.2 rear sensor?  Cable lengths seem to differ too, and as the bosses are further back than standard.....

Or do I have to go and bend over :(

Omega General Help / B1S2 Problem P0141
« on: 25 March 2016, 13:06:39 »
EML On

codes
P0141 - O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Open (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
 (04) - Present

P0141 - O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
 (08) - Present

Live data on a run (well trip to the car wash)

http://images.omegaowners.com/images/Jimbob/jimbob.csv

main noticable data
B1S2 O2 Sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 2) mV
varies from sitting at 0, sitting at 20, and reading sensible values.

from data cleared before hand, the length of the run was enough to bring the codes back to intermittant.

Good spray of carb cleaner in the engine bay reveals no air leaks.
Sensor and wire visibly perfect, connector clean, and sprayed with contact cleaner.

Thoughts?
I suggest the B1S2 Heater is indeed failing / failed and the sensor wants replacing.

Any one else?

General Car Chat / Zafira sheared wheel bolt, and next actions
« on: 06 February 2016, 19:04:26 »
Had a pair of new tyres on the mum bus in the week.

During REMOVAL! one of the wheel bolts sheared off.

Ive managed to remove the broken bit, which was seized in.

I now cant get a bolt to thread in.

Also, annoyingly wanted to MOT it next week and a missing bolt is a faulure I beleive.

Options.
1, silicone sealant the remaining external bit in the hole to get me through the MOT as time is awkward at the moment. (a very short term 'fix')

2, tap and die set to try and clean up the thread so a bolt will go in, trouble is I dont have the right size (M12 x 1.5 I think) or get garage to do this?

3, New wheel bearing, hub and brake disks and pads while im at it.

Any better plans or advice?

General Discussion Area / Tumble dryer replacement?
« on: 28 January 2016, 15:40:30 »
We have a 4 year old hotpoint dryer which is part of the current recall

Hotpoint have mailed saying they will probably get round to us in March. Or I can buy a new dryer. £200 worth give or take for £59 delivered. (They take away the old one as part of this obviously)

Question is. Do I replace at the bargain price or do I take a chance on longer life.

Anyone else had the offer?  What have you decided?
