Title: Heater bypass valve
Post by: rds on 25 October 2018, 00:51:15
Hello all
The replacement valve has been leaking again and I'm not looking forward to this job again. I really don't want to have to do it yet again after this so can anyone recommend which parts manufacturer to turn to for the replacement part please? Are oem still available?
Most seem unbranded or febi bilstein or topran. I'm not familiar with these makes and I mote that auto vaux are supplying eg filters from new to me suppliers too!

Any parts/supplier recommendations gratefully received.

Cheers

V6 or 2.2 16V?

If it's leaking "again", it might not be the valve itself. Have a look at the coolant hose that connects the rear of the engine to the inlet port of the plastic heater matrix bypass valve. It might be split (or a bad seal due to scale) at the end(s) under the clips.

Hello Enceladus

it's a 2.2 16v

Good point, thank you. I'll have a look again but last evening did see some creeping scale but on the basis of what happened before and it seems the experience of others with this infernal valve, i seem to recall that it was the internal seal in the valve leaks.

Anyone care to comment with their views?

Thanks again
