Smart cars.  Stupid drivers.
« on: 04 September 2006, 21:04:33 »

Is it just because I'm an old botty burp, or are 98% of Smart car drivers, well, not very smart at all actually?

They're always zipping up behind you and following far too close.  (Must be terrifying for a passenger).

Pulling out on you.  Breaking the speed limit.  Trying to overtake everything on the motorway.  Being over aggressive.  Totally inconsiderate.  Unaware of all other vehicles around them.  Dangerous in a crash.

They belong in a childs toybox and the drivers should be forced to take their test again.

Oh and they look stupid.

(Just been hassled by one coming back from taking Mrs H to work dammit).

i have driven a smart car, nippy little things and suprisingly roomy inside.

Has an awful awful gearbox though... its only has a semi automatic, nasty thing. Takes about 25 seconds to change gear!!

Saw one doing 90mph on the motorway once  :o

Don't see many smart cars up norf in the country.... so can't really say about their drivers in general.

My last company had one as a pool car & they really are fun to drive, nippy around town & great around corners, nearly got 90 out of it (on a long downhill stretch!)

In Manchester they are usually driven by estate agents, hairdressers and a certain type of men. ;)

The more putrid the colour scheme, the more likely to be signwritten in the naffest font availlable.

This type of car was fashionable last century-just like the people who drive them.

Anybody who does 90mph in one on the moterway is either very brave or has a death wish ;D

I assume you must all be refering to the original Smart - Fortwo. I can almost see the appeal of them, but having seen the crash test that they performed on Fifth Gear(?) into one of concrete blocks they use for long term lane closures on the motor I could never ever consider driving one any where other than around town. If you did survive it you'd have no legs.  :(  :o
The ForFours are hideous, but I think that the 2 Roadsters really look the part - all 700cc(?) of them.

Going to work following a Smart (Mitsu version which Hammond and May lived in) and another (MVWH&MLI) came the other way.

Also saw the Kinder version a few days ago.

The Kinder Smart is good as a town car, but I would not want to drive any distance in one.

I have read that a Smart Kinder converted to LPG makes a Prius look dirty
