Well, on the maps we had at school it was Formosa. Other exotic places were Ceylon and 'White Russia'

Mount Everest was  shown as 29002ft, later changed to 29028ft.

Is it my fault text books were a little outdated? :P :P :P :P

Formosa and Ceylon are going back some... Reminds me of  Mrs Mugabes shopping trips... We used to clean Air Zimbabwe whenever she condescended to allow their two functioning planes to operate a service. Calling up to say we had boarded the Rhodesian skip never failed to raise a scowl from their station rep :D
