Strange boy
« on: 24 March 2017, 19:10:56 »

I was talking to my lad about stuff that went on when I was young, believe it or not, he's actually interested. I told him about watching Noggin the nog when I was about six, and his enemy, Nogbad the bad. He liked the sound of their names so I found a vid on the tube. He watched it right through without peeing himself laughing or anything, I think he enjoyed it. Not the storyline or anything, but the peek at what used to be on the telly.
They grow up earlier these days, so we're told, but they're just big kids really.

And further to that...the cartoons are full of hideous monsters. Geez... a puppet called Mr Onion used to put the fear of god into me in the fifties :o
IIRC, Mr Onion was in the same show as Mr Turnip !!!!! ;)

Absolutely right.  Children today are the same as we were all those years ago; they just have advanced technology now.  I watch one of my grandsons who i see almost everyday.  He is six, and shows all the traits of the boys in the late 1950's.  He loves Tom & Jetty, steam railway locomotives, and anything that seems to him like a toilet joke!  He has tumbles, gets in scraps, and doesn't like it being suggested that he has a girlfriend! He is everybit going through the same evolution that my brother did in the 1950's, and my sons in the 1970's. Boys will be boys, as girls will be girls today as they were in yesteryear's. I said technology, and with girls fashion with make up and hair styles may have changed, but nothing else has. 8) 8)

Anyone for watching Andy Pandy, Twizzle, Captain Pugwash, or Stingray? :D :D :D :D

Human nature be it good or bad hasn't changed. We still have the same emotions we had when a house was a cave.

You want to google Captain Pugwash.....I used to like that programme as a youngster....I think you'll find the names your thinking of were made up and not the real characters  ;)

For example....Your thinking...."Roger the the cabin boy".....his name was actually Tom.....
Also...your thinking "Master Bates" his name was actually Master Mate  ;)

You are right!  My memory at times plays tricks, and when I checked on Google there was the correct title ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D

and Gerry Anderson did not create this one apparently, but he did produce the second series..........that was when I first saw/recognised his name as a 7 year old! :D ;)

Can anyone remember a series that ran on bbc1 for several years in the late sixties it was in black and white and was based around a pool surrounded by rocks. It was produced in an eastern European country possibly Rumania and the main characters were a girl, a giant gold fish and a dwarf, can anyone recall the name of this programme? sounds weird I know or did I dream it?

I'm soooooo glad I started this thread. My missus hasn't laughed so much for ages. The girl, the goldfish and the dwarf cracked her up and, when Tony said he didn't realise it was in colour cause they only had a b&w set, it finished her off  ;D

In the sixties, there was Carnaby Street, mini skirts, free love, lots of drugs....it was a time for the youngsters to take control of their own lives and to start influencing society in a big way......on the telly. Switch it of and go outside and it was still raggety arsed kids kicking a football about the back streets of Liverpool.

The summer of 'lurve' in 1967. Sadly I was too young to take part. However, I do remember being given a flower by a hippy chick without understanding the significance.

I'm soooooo glad I started this thread. My missus hasn't laughed so much for ages. The girl, the goldfish and the dwarf cracked her up and, when Tony said he didn't realise it was in colour cause they only had a b&tw se, it finished her off  ;D

With the age of the programme and the fact it was produced in eastern Europe I naturally assumed it would be in black and white  :( Keep this thread going it's great :y
