If they had to monitor him so closely then he shouldn't have been let out!  >:(
Different issue, but a valid point...
Unfortunately the Labour Government set up the system to release all prisoners at the half-way point of their sentences... now if that was for financial or "luvy dovey" reasons I have no idea .. but the Courts, the Prison Service, and to a large extent, the Probation Service, have absolutely no way of changing it ... it is the Law.

The law is an arse!  ::)

It is indeed, and soon to be changed I believe.

Personally, I was very happy with pre-1997 UK society & didn't need to be culturally enhanced by Tony BLiar & Mandlescum with their mass migration from all corners of the globe which has IMV caused the current UK society's surge in violent crime, terrorist problems & northern cities pedophile grooming gangs drugging & raping young underage vulnerable girls. >:(

Most traditional UK organised crime gangs have been taken over or displaced by much more violent Eastern European gangs with the most violent of the lot from Albania controlling & running the UK sex trade which includes people trafficking. >:(

.

Still not enough, all terrorism crimes should carry a whole life sentence ( preferably the death sentence but it will never happen)
It is costing taxpayers an absolute fortune to look after these people & we are getting nowhere with them they will not be cured of their beliefs so either ship them out or get rid of them permanently.

The unspoken question here is why was a 20+ handed team of police guns running 24/7 obs on a recently released crim?

Who happened to have terrorist inklings?.....

Pour encourage les outres?

Should they want to plays goodies and baddies on release?

....and, discuss......

There's more covert units than that wandering around the country,
When I was a boy mechinc down that London, there was 2 -4 black range rovers, 4.2L that would be around, 4 blokes in each, kitted out,  No markings,  not police trained, always on call,   Now due to the changes various motors are used, more of them, 2 per car, and motorcycles,  when called to act Police hats are worn, ,,, Remember the shooting of the bloke on the tube, similar unit.

There's different strings to law enforcement, and government agencies.

I understand why they might want to send the message, Broocie, but I doubt very much that this would actually deter anyone who holds the firm belief that it is their duty to carry the fight to the streets of Britain, and that they will be rewarded for their actions in the afterlife.

Deter, indeed. Encourage, more likely .. martyrdom awaits!

How come all those that preach[of any religion]about how great it will be when you get to heaven never seem to be in a rush to get there themselves?

In the latest two terror incidents, on London Bridge and in Streatham, the BBC referred to the suicide vests they were wearing as 'fake'. Not really. Both terrorists were definitely committing suicide by wearing them.  ::)

I understand the numbers of covert units that are out and about.  I used to also carry and do such obs for more years than I care to remember, in a previous life.

My question is still, what makes the recently deceased worthy of such a unit on his tail?
