Scrubbed and polished the Bavarian missile......

Is this the 330d?
Indeed :y

Cracking engine.  :y  Straight six, oodles of torque, bags of power right from the off and decent economy considering its power.  :y
I've had that engine in various guises over the years and it just got better.  :y

Agreed.  Those Beemer 3ltr straight sixes are great!  :y   Even if they do run on the devils juice.  ;D

Seeing about 46mpg, which considering the average journey it's doing at the moment is less than two miles ::)

It's an effortless long distance car too... Just as happy cruising for hours at 75 as it is blasting past traffic 8)

Removed n/s rear wheel on the Omega to bring it to work to refurb it. While I was down there I cleaned surface rust off the rear damper, and gave it a coat of Bilthamber, checked the rear pads, cleaned up everything within reach around the area, and gave the caliper a coat of matt black. Was thinking of starting to remove the rear donut bush but then the jack slipped and snapped off the headlight level sensor.
Hoping to carry on regardless tomorrow.

I tend to remove the donut with the car on ramps.

Only do one side at a time, also it makes it a bit easier to reposition the subframe when it comes to getting the centre bolt back in ;) basically throw the new bush in, loosely refit the plate, then roll the car back/forth to centre the main bolt. Bish, bash, bosh :y

Just walked past them both in the garage to get fence treatment & brushes , neither of them turned a wheel for about a week now.

I will let you know if it is that simple for me. Probably wont be, it usually isn't.

As it's not moved for 3 weeks, and probably won't for at least another 3 .... stuck a battery charger on it just to see ... after 8 hours it shows fully charged and has dropped into maintenance mode... so I guess it's still in decnet condition.  :)

To be repeated in 2 weeks time ......   :)

I think I'll do her shopping trolley tomorrow ....

Replaced handbrake cable on the project Omega - What a pig of a job with exhausts and rearmost heat shields in the way.

I nearly considered dropping the exhaust so the shields could be taken out fully, so they just clanked and rattled on top of the exhaust instead, along with my constant swearing trying to get the new cable into place. No wonder the neighbours have taken to wearing earplugs when I'm under the car!

Everyone likes a picture, don't they? Just in case you've forgotten what a star silver Omega looks like.  ::)

The crease on the front bumper is where it rolled away a couple of years ago and demolished a small brick wall. There's a few dings and scrapes on some of the panels, but it's tidy underneath and worth spending some time on it for use as a winter car.

Its a shame you're not round the corner because you could have done the rear springs on my estate  ::) and turned the air even more blue  ;D.

Refitted the underbonnet sound deadening shield on the Range Rover, I suspect it was removed on its first MOT in 2010 when it failed on insufficient screen wash this meant removal of the shield and it wasn't put back properly. Bought the correct grommet fasteners of eBay and drilled and fitted 4 extra ones only took about 45 minutes can't understand why it was never put right before, OCD I'm afraid everything has got to be perfect..😃

Had a few tacho & speedo no workey incidents  :(
mileage still went up  :) but it's always nice to know how slow you are driving  ;D
so took it apart again and fitted I.R.S calibrated clocks
I assume the MPG data etc on the display will take a while to reset back to it's normal figures  AKA abysmal ?  ;D

now I need to test drive with sat nav to check speeds etc but i will do that when out driving for a reason  :y
(shopping , taking stuff to the oldies etc or emergency repair)

then I need to look into correcting the mileage
anyone know how that is done please ?

Why bother correcting the mileage?
