Another problem :( has this happened to you?
« on: 26 July 2011, 17:23:24 »

Basically it keeps cutting out when you come to a stop. Not all the time, it only happened 3 times last week but on the way home today 6 TIMES  >:( sometimes it acts as if it was about to cut out the battery light slightly illuminates then the revs will come back up, ive not lost any power or had any engine light. normally i would suspect idle valve but thats normally paired with erratic idling,

Crank sensor?  :o

Wouldn`t hurt to paperclip it, 19 doesn`t always illuminate the EML. Erratic idling is normally airleak, cutting out tends to be IACV

Its a bit iffy between 500rpm and 1200rpm. usually the revs would come down to 500rpm but sometimes it sticks above 1000rpm or just cuts out

This was happening to me a while ago and it turned out to be the MAF sensor.

repeat as neccessary

drop of 3in1 oil on spindle.

dont poke a screwdriver or anything in cos youll scrape and damage it

Right then!

Lifted the bonnet and noticed a mucky spray on the top rad hose, which I found odd as its always spotless.

I noticed the coolant level had dropped slightly,

I checked the oil cap........... it had some slight gunk/cream on it  :-?

Took the iacv off and cleaned it with carb cleaner and a soft thin brush

Fired it up and went for a spin, fine didnt cut out and revs always dropped to 500rpm

Then i did the paperclip test, now when i replaced the maf last week i had all the codes reset, the only code i got just now was a 31?   :o
