SMETS2 smart meters
« on: Yesterday at 19:51:13 »

Finally got around to agreeing to have the meters replaced. Both gas and electricity were over 20 years old so 10+ years overdue.....

Waited all afternoon on Monday - no show.

Rescheduled for this morning - British Gas installer arrived and got on with swapping the meters.

Electrical meter swapped first and left to establish communications while the gas meter was swapped.

Gas meter swapped. Waited. Waited a bit longer.

I now have two shiny new dumb meters  ;D

Octopus keep sending me emails telling me that both of my meters are past their certification, so I need to have smart meters installed. I keep ignoring them, let's see if they get bored.

Same here with Eon, constant emails from them. The irony is that Eon did fit a smart meter in my house around four years ago but it only worked in dumb mode. I got a call from Eon recently saying that they needed to change the meter to a smart meter so I explained that my plasterboard is foil backed so they won’t get a signal, and that they’d already previously tried. They said ok and agreed to remove me from the mailing list but I’m getting more than ever now.  ::) ;D ;D
They also said, you can have the meter moved at your expense and I said that won’t be happening.  ::)

The Eon fitter turned up and told me it would take him around ten minutes with the power off and he’d be sorted. Over two hours later he gave up, put the power back on and left.  ;D

To be fair, Auckland is a fair way for the British Gas installer to go between jobs.  :P                                      ;D
