I was in Gdansk on business earlier this week and a couple of things of note:

1. they drove me around in a Lexus 600 Hybrid - quite a nice piece of kit
2. everywhere you go Lech Walesa is a total legend - went to shipyards , tours take you past his house etc
3. at a dinner at the Gdansk Hotel was positioned next to him for best part of 2 hours. Luckily I was able to talk a little about revolutions and public private partnerships as well as my usual array of bull - through an interpreter of course.
4. Amazing stories about the environment in which he had to conduct his struggle.
