Cars for Sale & wanted / Estate.
« on: 24 September 2017, 17:46:05 »
Hi. I'm looking for an Omega estate. Did'nt think i'd want another Mig after thoroughly enjoying my black MV6 many years back but a more modest estate would suit my needs now. I don't care what year, model, spec, engine, gearbox it is but i only want an original low mileage example with lots of history, cambelt done recently etc & at a fair price. Cash ready for the right car.

General Discussion Area / I buy old toys.
« on: 02 March 2016, 20:10:34 »
Firstly i hope this is ok within OOF rules. If not by all means remove & i won't make a fuss...(like i used to!!!) Many folk have old toys in cabinets or in the loft. Some of you would never part with them for sentimental reasons & i understand that. Others don't have that attachment & would rather clear the space & have the money. If that's you i'm looking for diecast/tin plate toys, old pedal cars, Action Man, TV related, ie Thunderbirds, Batman, Disney, Magic roundabout & any OLD Corgi, Dinky, Matchbox Lesney Robots etc. Sadly i have no need for EFE, LLEDO, DAYS GONE BY tea vans etc. I struggle to sell those boxed at a pound each, the market is flooded with them. Also no broken Transformer/Star wars figures etc I'm looking for items that were marketed as toys from new not models but am interested at anything old, quirky & collectable. i don't know much about trains except oo gauge is popular. No books or board games or anything with a bar code please, even a first issue Ker plunk or Mouse Trap only makes a fiver!
I will pay good cash for the right items but please bear in mind my overheads. If you have a job lot that you value at £500 selling individually i can only offer you half as i have to pay diesel/pitch fees etc. & may take weeks to sell...Wholesale/retail then the best will fly away & i'll be left with the rest to put into auction & hope for the best. Cut off point is around the 1970's. Can collect locally, cash paid. If further away please post pics & be prepared to pack & post upon agreed payment method.
   Regards, Guy.

General Discussion Area / Car ins. woes.
« on: 02 March 2016, 18:54:43 »
For many years now i've been insuring my vehicles with Adrian Flux. During that time they've been friendly, helpful, will mirror my no claims on any amount of vehicles & are able to insure just about anything. Just recently though i feel like their cash cow. As some of you may know i'm a part time market trader dealing in old toys, collectables & all things quirky. I run a full time indoor stall on sundays & sell outdoors & attend auctions during the week, hence i bought a 55 plate Transit & declared everything to them. I was a tad miffed at a quote of over £700 with breakdown cover but went ahead. I've since gone way over my declared mileage & had to pay another £370...this is only until april so i'm looking at £1000 renewal, guess i'll have to wear that one but i recently re insured the VW camper for just short of £300. I've just received a letter saying due to the information provided by them to Axa ins being unacceptable the policy will be void by the road traffic act on the 7th march, they can however offer me cover with another company for £444!!! I've also received another letter from them saying due to a "mid term adjustment" i need to pay another £70 on the VXR8 policy. As if that was'nt enough i've just bought a 1972 mk3 Cortina which they covered for £128. the policy & cert have arrived...£144! Talk about kicking a bloke when he's down...Roughly £600!
Fortunately i'm having a clear out. I've already sold a Morris 1100, a Chevette & a little XR 125 Honda. I've also got a 1966 mk3 Zodiac which will be sold soon along with the camper & the VXR8. That will leave me with the Transit for work & every use & the Cortina for leisure time. I get the feeling i've been with them that long they feel they can charge me what they like & i'll just pay it. When i'm down to just those two i'm going to shop around.
Anyway i hope you are all well & happy,
        Guy.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1649633231971734/1653683331566724/?notif_t=group_activity After years of hankering for a sexy 2 door Monaro a while back i got the chance of an early 07 plate VXR8. 2nd owner from 6 months old, 50k in Impulse blue. After some haggling i paid 12k. I've only done 2k miles & replaced front discs/pads & rear tyres...they chew 'em. i've never wheelspun it or had it sideways although it will skip out exiting roundabouts etc even with the TC on. 30 to 90 roll on in 3rd is arse clenching......BUT.....Despite being impressed with it i just don't love it like i did the MV6 Beastie.

Thank you all for your kind replies. They mean alot considering how difficult i was in the distant past...your patience & forgiving nature is appreciated. Broocie, i see you're in a sad place on your status, i hope this does'nt mean what i think it does. If so you have all my sympathy, understanding & pat on the back man love!!! Not making light of grieving in any way. Big boys cry cos they have big hearts & are better people for it as i've learned. You're a kind man, good cook & host & i'm proud to have been welcomed at your table all those years ago.
     Varche, being as you asked i now drive a 55 plate Transit, a 66 Mk3 Zodiac, a 92 VW T4 Camper & an 07 VXR8.

Omega General Help / 2.2 diesel fault.

Looking for a big load lugger while the Transit is being ply lined, catching a few rust spots etc. I'm market trading now with a permanent indoor sunday stall. I get around the local auctions every week so is this an easy fix or should i give it a miss?

The bad penny returns but said coin has flipped. What with age & family losses things have been put into perspective since i was last here. Little things don't phase me like they used to & i'm much less confrontational. I've remained friends with some of you on f/b but often thought of the rest of you & wondered how you are all doing now.

Firstly evening all you OOFERS Hope you are well & your Migs are too. I don't get on here much lately but i still love the forum despite no longer having an Omega. Dad died in september, he's with Mum now who we lost in July 2011. After Mum's funeral Dad told me i would be left a 6 figure inhertance & "don't buy a Ferrari", pay your mortgage off & invest in property. Obviously i won't but some super car, i'll pay this place off so it's mine & invest in a couple of run down repo terrace houses to rent or spin round if the market allows. If i rent them it's only a small income after ins, bonds, tax on eanings, maintance etc. I'll still go to work but said propertys could be sold on my retirement as i have no pensions in place.
I'd value your opinions & advice. Guy.

Just in case any of you wondering...No it's not me but my next door neighbours Trev & Helen. In one of the shots you can see the top of my VW campervan over the fence & Tonka the Disco on a mates drive opposite waiting to be sold as i'm all out of room!
I know little about the Omega except it sounds & looks sweet & they've had no trouble with it. Only for sale as they've bought a TDV6 Rangie. Guy. :y

This campervan was stolen from Leeds a few days ago..it never returned from the test drive. It's rare 2.0 pinto petrol model, most were diesel. If you can see under the bonnet the egr valve & air flow meter are new, more noticable are the new front roof skylight & the towbar plug in is damaged. Probably stashed somewhere so i know it's a long shot but if you even think you've seen it please phone the seller on the listed no. or call your local police.
The seller has given me permission to post all above details.
Hope you are all well, Guy.

Evening all. I no longer have a Mig..(never say never) & initially joined the forum in time for the first Lakes meet so early days. My past on here has been colourful to say the least but the years & subsequent events involving family losses have put things in perspective, suffice to say i'm less critical of others opinions. I've always enjoyed the forum & meets & would like to remain a part of it all...still friends with many of you on f/b. but miss the banter on here, Guy. 8)
