another oil ??
« on: 09 December 2019, 22:10:51 »

i posted a comment about my nieghbours excessive oil usage in a pug 1.4 petrol car. at the time he told me on a 120ml trip he needed to put 2ltrs in it. he also remarked that apart from that it runs smoothly. its reccomended to use 0.30 , 5 .30 & 10.30 according to ep,s fitment details . anyhow he asked me if i had any oil whilst he could get some . i had about 15ltrs left of gm 10/40 so he topped up with some of that. i,ve not seen him for a week but today he told me the oil situation has been ok.

Don't know much about Peugeots but on a lot of modern engines it's essential to use 5W30 or better otherwise the engine suffers valve problems eventually (Ford Zetec springs to mind)

Don't forget it's not just the grade of oil but also the specification it meets, such a A3/B4 A5/B5 this should be listed in handbooks or manuals and also appear on the oil container.
