I know our cars will eat tyres if the the geometry is not correct but does less than 4 months and 500 miles seem right for this >:(

also noted what may be an age crack which might have contributed (tyre past it's best?)
and since shortly after MOT (hence mileage/time frame known) was done the abs fault occurred and as this also effects the steering could that accelerate the process.

That's classic worn suspension/terrible alignment. More likely, both
I bet it drives abominably too.

Badly set up/knackered bushes will do that in less than week.

no knocks from front end, Mot pass in April only advisories for rear donuts and setup not changed in 2 years of ownership .I suspect it knew I was thinking of a geometry check as i've got a nearly new set of michelins and wanted it doing before putting them on so no not bothered just seemed a bit rapid.
Drives very well to the shops and back. :-X

Yes, I agree; before my wishbones replacement - ATP kit, plus track rods and drop links - (thanks Serek) and proper all-wheel alignment on the Hunter machine at Tyre-Smart, Witham, I suffered similar tyre wear. After correction, as described, it drove as if on rails, even over the "tramlines" provided by heavy lorries on some local roads. Get it done, your wallet will benefit! :y :y :y

That wear is from the car's alignment being way out.
Whether this is caused by failed bushes or other component wear, or just badly set up, will need a pry bar and Mk1 eyeball to discover.
An MOT will tell you precisely sod all, so ignore that fact that it passed a few weeks ago.

As I said, knew it was alignment just surprised it happened so quickly and will obviously get it sorted :y
