Hello everyone,
Been browsing for a few months now and thought i would sign up, i bought my Omega a few months ago getting lucky with a bargain on ebay - a near mint 2001 facelift elite was bought and turned out near perfect.
This was how i bought it:-

Drove around for a couple of months enjoying it as it was, still suprised at the luck i'd had to be honest. But there was always a little plan for this car - our group of friends alwasys like playing with our cars, weve had many projects over the years.... 400+ bhp Pulsars, Drift 200sx's, big power turbo Vauxhalls etc so the time came we thought we'd see what we could do. So we spent a day down at our workshop....
This was how i drove her to the workshop in the morning:-

I'm not one for spending out big money on parts etc as i have a house and young family to look after and we dont mind getting dirty and experimenting, so £30 later for some little homebrew coilover setup we ended up with a set of coilovers to try and fit basically compromising of vauxhall bits, easy really.
These are what the front coilovers ended up looking like, a perfect direct fit using the omega top mounts too:-

Our first fit ended quite well and looked like this:-

Spend the day on it basicaly getting everything all ok and getting the rears to work aswell, ive retained the self levelling shocks on the back and basically just disregarded the air part of them and just using the oil part of the shock absorber and they infact work perfectly.
This is how the day ended:-

There is some fettling to do, just getting everything adjusted right etc height wise, but its some together very good - everything still works and drives very well considering. So we had our first test drive and ended up at home all tip top.

Any comments are more than welcome.
Thanks.

Looks very nicely done, unlike some that have been posted on here ,wheels look great.
-
Cheers pal, it all came off ok in the end. Was only second hand wheels, I was unsure on the whit but now they are on i quite like em.
-
mines lowered too but thinking of putting back to normal height as the exhaust keeps scraping speedies....loving the wheels....very nice
-
Looks nice , only reason i wouldnt lower is of the 1000's of speed humps around here :(
-
Looks nice, however, I think you'll find that if you've kept the standard rear shocks they won't have enough travel in them to cope with the lowering and will thud at full travel.
-
Wheels not to my taste I'm afraid, but each to their own :y
Keep the pics coming :y
-
Love the wheels mate :y
-
Looks nice mate :y I wont lower mine cos I often do go on quite bad roads >:( what's more been thinking on an airride system...
-
Cheers guys.
Last night I had a fiddle after work with the front coilovers just bringing the ride height down to where i want it, then went for a little trip to make sure it was all ok. Grabbed a couple of pictures at the petrol station.
Still suprised at the quality of the ride considering this is a bit of a home brew coilover setup lol it rides absolutely fansastic considering how low it is, we were driving around yesterday evening almost in disbelief.
Anyway, a couple of pics...

Thanks again.

Awesome work :y

Love the motor mate and it sits really well.
im definitely a fan of lowered omegas i think they handle loads better and the ride is still quite
good what coilovers did you use and what are they off if you dont mind me asking :y
-
Wow looks very low :D
-
Cheers very much gents, sorry for the late reply.
Chufts, I use mk4 astra coilovers with 2 x 5mm spacer plates on the hub - then on top is astra spring cup, then omega top bearing with omega top mount, you also have to trip some of the shaft off the top of the shock - it's really easy to be honest mate, easier than it sounds. Happy to talk you through it if you want to message me.
I got a couple more pics the other day:-

Then today we went out, the whole family - boot loaded right up and 4 up inside and she was still driving good :)

Love how low your ride is, by the way there the same wheels iv been eyeing up for my omega!
At least I know they suit the car lol :-)
-
Love it!! :-* :-* :-* :-* :y :y
-
Thanks that would be cool i always wondered if another vauxhall coil over kit would fit on the omega i think i looked awhile back at some Vectra coil overs but i was told they wouldn't go on i have my front sitting well on my 19s but the back still sits a little bit high i have just put a concrete slab in before sat well then lol thanks :)
-
Yeah vectra coilovers wouldnt be any good mate as the rear suspension and sturt setup is totally different, the front may fit.... On the back i just used the astra rear coils with the stock omega shocks.

What did the insurers make of that, given that they are working over their design limit?

They said they'd take me for lunch and buy me pancakes on Sunday x
