Just shows how much they know ::) Same with European Car of the Year award winners how many of those have actually been a success[Renault 9 anyone?] ??? ???

I enjoyed my R16 for about 5 years until it rusted to bits. Never had a problem with mechanicals and very comfortable and quick enough.

Wasn't the 9 and 11 the same car but different shape?

I used to work at a Renault dealership in the early '80s,the number of R16s with rotten floor pans was phenominal! Renault[as with other French makes]are generally very comfortable-handy while waiting for the breakdown truck to arrive ::)- I had an early R5 with the gearstick coming from the centre of the dash[like the R4 and 2CV]and a R20TS which I must say was a very comfortable and reliable car.

Apart from being brown, my R25 Monaco was a pleasant enough car to get around in, although it had the obligatory built in rust preventing oil distribution system fitted  ;D

Yes very much but the 9 was a saloon with a boot and the 11 was a hatchback.

Bmw must have copied that idea but finessed it so that the grill stays shut until the engine is warm, and then the grill opens automatically.   :y
