Didn’t know that, simple but effective :)

it's unlikely to simple if BMW designed it. Or any German.

Indeed. Or effective.

it might be effective, but you have to read the manual of 32(not counting the legal disclaimers) closely typed pages for a device that ought to be operated with a lever marked open and closed.

On that theme:

a French design would be just as complicated, but full of flimsy parts that ought to be strong, and parts that could be flimsy made from girders. It wouldn't come with a manual

The English design would involve the lever mentioned above, but the open and closed labels would be stuck on the wrong ends. Crookedly.

The Italian mechanism would have fallen off on its first journey, so nobody knows what it looked like. Or needs a manual ;D

Etc, etc

Ahh, my moscky van had a lever to blank the radiator in the winter, great idea. ;D

The British way was easier, put a bit of cardboard in front of radiator, then wonder why it keeps overheating in the spring ;D

Had another play with airfix 1. Fully charged battery. Jump lead from battery negative to block - no change. Still showing p0201 as opposed to the previous p0204.
Swapped injectors from pot 1 and 4 over. Still shows p0201.
I think the thing to do now is to splash out £35  on a Renault-COM Bluetooth all the way from Manchester China and hope for the best.
I seriously doubt a wiring problem as it hasn't been disturbed at all, so now having thoughts of fried ECU.
I read today that Cherie Blair was on the board of Renault the same time as the bloke who arrived in Beirut in an instrument case the other day.
Had the seller of the Renault provided me with this info at the time, I would have run a mile. Might see a solicitor about this terrible lack of disclosure.

Woke the V8 from its winter slumber just to run it up on the drive, for thirty minutes. Roll on April or if we believe the Dail Express, June before the snow goes away

I think the TDV8 has just as many problems (turbos, EGRs etc), they just don't result in the crank snapping itself in half like the TD or SDV6 ;D I see lots of forum owners religiously buy a warranty every year "just in case" the engine (more than likely) eats itself.. I got a quote for a warranty on mine - £1500p/a! And people are paying that every single year, the risk of snapping a crank is seen as that high..

I just put £150 per month into a savings account for maintenance  so far put £600 in & spent £55 on a  new door actuator , it's called commonsense why put cash into other peoples pockets, if you have to worry about maintenance & running costs these are a prime example of a vehicle to avoid, however the TDV8 is in my opinion the one to have, I had a budget of £13,000 the purchase price of this was only £7000 so if any disastrous mechanical failures occur they will be dealt with, have found an excellent independent who has been all over this & the only fault that needs attention shortly is the EPB.

The two new wheel bearings in December see me up to £2,318.76 since September already.. £150pcm isn't going to cut it ;D
