Aerial Cable
« on: 13 May 2007, 16:35:46 »

Hi, I am sure I have seen somewhere that the aerial cable is joined in the front footwell, is this correct, and how can you replace the piece from there to the radio unit?

Not sure about replacing it but I noticed mine has a join behind the driver's kick panel behind the bonnet release lever.

Thanks Mark, is it easy to replace from the join to the radio, car is away at the moment getting the gearbox looked at, might be looking for a good secondhand gearbox, depending on what they find  :'(

Fitting is easier than removal...so leave the old one in and run a new one in paralel with the loom....I had to remove one from a breaker car....required a bit of loom cutting to get it out....not to hard though.

Not sure which cable is needed, my Omega is still in the garage getting a new gearbox fitted. When I get it back I will have a look and let you know, if I can work out how to get the kick panel off! :-/

Finally got a chance to look at the aerial cable today, mini facelift join is behind the drivers kick panel, it looks like a special connection, which is annoying as I thought I might get away without using an adaptor on the replacement headunit, will have to go and see the Vauxhall Stealer tomorrow to see if they supply the cable just from the join to the headunit.

Called in at the Local Vauxhall Stealers today to order the aerial cable from the join behind drivers kick panel to the headunit(about 1 metre long) they robbed me of £16.75 + VAT for it! I thought at least they should have worn a mask and held a gun on me.

Hi Richard, I think the aerial cable with the push in connector is the grey one, there is a cable with a screw connector which is black, I think the black one is the telephone cable as the cable that goes into the back of the radio antenna socket is definately grey.

Fine, I wasn't sure of the cable colour, yes the telephone aerial cable is black with a screw connector.
best of luck
