Omega General Help / rear judder
« on: 16 September 2018, 21:27:47 »
not long bought a pre facelift witch was originally a 2.5 cdx manual and previous owner  has since fitted a 3.2 and lowered it also, looks nice and mean! drives well except ive noticed when all warmed up more noticeable a judder from off-side rear when taking up drive and turning right say at a junction scenario and also when in reverse can do it at times,i was thinking a tired drivers side rear drive shaft? as it may have been doing some sideways action in its past life! he also stated in his advert he thinks it has a l.s.d. fitted by an owner before him but not sure! what do other members think please.

my dad has one of these great little vans and keeps stalling intermittently my thinking is crank sensor ala omega problem, says hes looked on a you tube clip of a american replacing one looks easy as it all on top at front as front wheel drive and the guy was using loads of electrical contact cleaner spray when replacing it, has anyone on here used a similar method when changing one i was thinking or is it not really needed?

Omega General Help / 3.2 mv6 with a few issues?
« on: 12 January 2014, 14:57:14 »
hi,all just got above off e-bay transported to me by a fellow on trade plates from southampton to where i live in torquay, all was well he said, gave it a good look over the next day and saw coolant mostly water and at minimum, engine oil black and bit of mayo in filler cap and bit halfway on dipstick but not at bottom! last service in book 2009, and battery sounded a bit tyred also,so gave it a local garage to change coolant/battery and oil/filter,air/pollen/brake pad check etc,got it back and went for a good drive, bleepng from speakers driving me mad every 5 minutes/trafficmaster? spanner in car symbol lit up, car kept running perfectly but noticed gearbox in limp home mode,no flashing s or diodes on selector though? turned engine off and re-started light went off and gearbox normal, been ok today though hasnt done it since, think its done a lot of sitting around as mot history says only done 12,000 in 3 years, the only other discovery is the rad is leaking from the top on pass side,so hoping that explains the low coolant when it arrived, seller knew it was going and just kept putting neat water in! so back to garage tommorow for a new rad and hope thats it!!

Omega General Help / slight coolant loss 3.2
« on: 03 May 2013, 13:45:25 »
ive noticed having to put in about a litre of coolant in about 1100 miles, its had a heater bypass valve, water pump was leaking aswell so these have been done, and still losing it then i had a shufty under bonnet this morning after a run and noticed a drip from the cylindrical shaped thing under the expansion tank, dont know what its called sorry hoping someone on here knows what its called, looks a bit like a idle control valve type of shape, dripping down onto off side chassis rail, thats why not seeing any coolant stains under engine! looks like this is the culprit.

Omega General Help / 3.2 exhaust question
« on: 05 July 2012, 22:00:37 »
my omega is going back in fri for its mot work one thing is the need for an exhaust system, but have one from my power sounder destroyed 2.5 which ive been told on here will fit,he says i could do with cats aswell personally i think he doesnt fancy separating them,in my opinion the cats are a1 just rusty on there outer skin, was told even by an exhaust place when having tracking done they were fine! plus looking at prices of them they are ruiningly expensive! so hoping all goes well the 3.2 cats separate o.k. and all maries upto the 2.5 system which i see has gm centre boxes and a bosal back box+ set me back £450.00 a year or so ago.

Omega General Help / using coolant!
« on: 30 May 2012, 13:09:45 »
hi,my 3.2 seems to be using coolant ,just put in over a litre in 9 days and 361 miles as coolant level check came up on computer last night, heater bypass valve has been done about 8 months ago and seems dry there but cannot see any drips anywhere/oil is just oil thankfully no mayo! only dampness i can see is on block bellow water pump/so maybee its that? but history said it was done at 190,000 mileage now 219,000,so not sure, hope it holds out to pay day then give it local garage i reckon.

General Car Chat / miggy burnt out
« on: 15 April 2012, 21:24:48 »
i have 2 omegas a 97 2.5 cdx which ive had for 5 years and have loved every minute of it putting on a mesh grille/improving the bodywork/adding full leather trim and adding 17" mv6 alloys it looked great! recently had a decent second hand autobox put on as its was slipping badly and covered a without hitch 700 miles in a week,i swap it every other week for my mv6 which i park outside the mother in laws house in a rather nice street in torquay,as no room at my home ,then when at work sat night had a phone call from my mrs saying police had been round saying the cdx was a burnt out right off!! i promptly left work to see it and talk to c.i.d. admiting i leave it unlocked as such a good street and incase alarm goes off in night not to disturb anyone! the fire looks to have started on the drivers side under bonnet as all off side front of car badly burnt, but doors backwards o.k. interior not burnt just dash top melted/windscreen gone,no-one was at home at the time of fire 6 hours after i parked it so a kind couple of gardners working up the road called the fire brigade and police to deal with it and obviously they contacted me through numberplate,im in half a mind to think its melicious as was running a1/no smells of burning while driving e.t.c. why should it suddenly catch fire 6 hours after being parked? when i also know for a fact the people up there were getting the hump about me swapping them round up there even though as stated its outside the mother in laws place! as some nosy devil said to her 3 weeks ago that cars not taxed, which of course it was, anyway its been recovered to a compound and will have to contact my insurers mon morning about it,the c.i.d. say it will be checked to see if melicious or not all in all a very sad end to the finest machine ive ever owned and ive had a lot!!
