Aarrgghh!!
« on: 28 June 2009, 19:52:03 »

Recently bought my first Omega, seemingly too good to be true for the price, drove it and it seemed perfect. Since then the problems have been piling up and now today the sunroof has stopped working!  >:(  Seems like a heck of a lot can go wrong with these cars. May have to re-mortgage my house if this carries on...

These are damn reliable cars, in general. I've got to defend them, really!

Have a look around the forum. List your probs, I bet alot of them will be easily cured things, for not a lot of pennies.

Oh, and good luck!!

I've had my 02 2.2dti for almost 6 years and done 84,000 trouble free miles.......the last 2000 have seen a brake pipe burst and the crank pulley fall off and wishbone bushes need replacing.   Yes the sunroof opens on its own occassionally and the battery goes flat if you don't start it for 3 days but it will sit on the motorway at 80mph and return 40mpg and you get out of it thinking you have just gone round the block.   And just sometimes, when I let my imagination run riot I am driving a 3.2 MV6 in Street Wars!!!!

I've got to say that despite all the problems, when it goes ok it's fantastic. Despite everything I'm still glad I bought the damn thing

These cars are great, everyone knocks Vauxhall, I have owned everything under the sun and had less trouble with my Vauxhalls than anything. I was driving my 3.0V6 CDTI Vectra today and for the £3K its worth plus the £2k My MV6 is worth, I think I have two great and rare cars! Every car has issues, ours less than most, try owning a W engined Pheaton!!!

See what I mean?  :y It's just a case of knowing. Thats how my mate bought a 'knackered' fee-esta for a couple of hundred, changed the idle control valve (5 quid) and sells it for three times what he paid!

So what's the list of niggles/problems, then? Happy to help, feller.

Bought my Mig end of Jan 2009. Got it cheap (£360)Since then, spent about £700, including about £150 to £200 on tools.   Was frustrating, but in reality, would have probably spent that sought on money even if I paid £800 for it.   Basically have done service parts on the car, which you would have had to do anyway. Now it's running, happy bunny and chuffed.
Still got niggly bits to do.   Think there's a loose wire for rear screen heater, ciarette lighter don't work, so can't charge phone and there is a musty smell coming from the heater or heater matrix.  Found a pipe tonight, part of the heating system that appears to ave been repair by a jubilee clamp which is restricting the flow - me thinks that could be the proble. Others can be easily fixed over the next few weeks.
So, stick with it, they are great cars. Loads of power, loads of space, great work horse and look good :y
