Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: infra red remote fob
« on: 08 December 2011, 22:34:58 »
Synching the infra red remote is a different procedure to radio remote. Going from memory you have to
- turn ignition on
- point remote to be programmed @ receiver in roof (small black dome near interior light). Ideally you need a second key. If only one key split remote from key.
- keep button on remote pressed while pointed directly @ receiver until interior light blinks 3 times

That should do it.

Stunning motor. Car is a credit to you.  :y The Omega A / Carlton estate is one of the finest cars Opel / Vaux have made IMO.

Omega General Help / Re: dti heater plug question
« on: 25 October 2011, 13:49:57 »
Heater plugs work for every start up on that engine AFAIK. They also stay on for approx 2 mins afterglow after startup. It's just when temp is colder it puts heater light on dash to give more time before startup. Would have suspected air leak causing fuel to run back to tank.

Omega General Help / Re: Cat Differences
« on: 14 October 2011, 12:31:15 »
Have fitted a set from a 2.6 onto my 3.2. Bolted straight on with no problems. Compared both when off and could see no difference at all. Has passed NCT emissions test since with no probs. Didn't bother moving lambda sensors and have had no lights or codes either. Don't know why they bothered with different part numbers. Might be differences in back pressure but I've noticed no difference in driving mine.

What colour is that? Cant quite work it out. Graphite grey?  :)

Not sure, it is a metallic grey, though in certain lights it seems to change colour

It's called graphite 2. Paint code is 85L. :y

Omega General Help / Re: urgent !!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a similar problem myself. In my case the solution was to leave jump leads connected and leave donor car engine running for 10-15 mins which charged flat battery up a bit. Then started with leads connected & donor engine off to prevent voltage spike.

Thanks for comments  :y. On the road tax I would have the same debate every year when it came with renewal time @ €1566 for the year, but I don't smoke & drink break all so had the Mig as my vise. Problem is with downturn in motor trade I simply can't tax it at the min. You just can't have anything nice in this country >:(
When the Greeks hurry up and default and the world economy sorts itself out I might be able to put it back on the road full time.
Have a wish list for it of elec folding mirrors, rear bumper with park sensors, dimming rearview mirror and of course sat nav. All in good time. ::)

Is airlocked methinks. They take ages cranking to bring the diesel back up. Fill fuel filter housing with diesel & open a nut onto one injector. Crank until fuel appears @ injector & retighten. You may have to tow it if battery dies. Be warned though. Cranking engine with no fuel in pump can kill it as fuel lubricates it.

Have this since 05. Used as daily transport till may last year. Parked up since as cannot justify road tax spend over here :'(.
Gonna keep it for occasional use. Has couple of dents & marks here & there & suffers from phantom sunroof & stereo but in no rush to sort them. Standard car apart from rear spoiler, V6 badges on wings & wired parks lamps into bootlid.

You will be able to get security code for units you got from astra from the serial number etched into the side of the stereo from your local opel/vaux dealer.

The car battery may be flat. Drop in voltage probably upsetting the power sounder. Try connecting jump leads then lock & unlock & try to start it.

You would be amazed at some of the "official" kit we have.

Just aquired a Tech3 (needed for programming the Insignia )

 ::)

I am amazed. Wasn't aware anything other than GDS2 software on a PC with MDI interface would work.  :-?

Your local Vauxhall dealer will be able to supply the adaptor lead you need. Ask for part no 90513375, kat no 1787007 (excl phone kit). It is quite expensive though as it is 5.5m long to reach to boot. Costs €96.84 in Ireland.

Car will fail NCT (DOE equivalent) test if fitted with Xenon lights if they are not self levelling. AFAIK european law requires it. Also could there be possible insurance complications?

Unless you have a professional set of jump leads most sets won't start a watch much less a 3.2 V6 when battery is flat. Try connecting up your leads & leave donor car running for 15-20 mins. This will charge flat battery enough to start. Then turn off donor car & try car with flat battery (Prevents voltage surge & fried ECU's).
