General Car Chat / diamond brite
« on: 24 August 2020, 12:28:14 »
i purchased a car which had a diamond brite paint warranty. last week i noticed on the rear o/s wheel arch a bit of lacquer peel. its about the size of a thumb nail. i am a bit worried if when it goes for a wash the peeling gets worse.  i contacted the dealer that i bought the car from but they told me to get in touch with diamond brite. did so, but i expected them to say take it to a place near to me & get it assessed & rectified near to where i live, but not so. they want to see a photograph. i took a couple but with the shine of car its hard to spot.

just been watching that & in one scene it showed her getting into a car front view & they were not omega headlights then when she arrived at her destination the car was the omega as you stated

an update . my wife (as its normally when her pension is paid ) asked me to check to see if it had been paid. no it hadn,t. then i looked at pending payments & its going in tomorrow arrears too. i have an idea how this bother may have initially happened. about 12 wks ago our postman was dressed as a hotdog & was quite pissed. funny but may not have been seeing this as normally he would have. :y

my wife whom has been eligible for her state pension for almost 15yrs has had it stopped, the reason being she has been told was a letter was sent to her notifying her of the yearly increase was returned to them stating " not at this address " trying to explain to them that the letter never reached us & it must be a postal error & the wrong recipient must be the one to return it has for weeks been falling on deaf ears. also to phone them it takes up to 40mins to get through & never less than 20mins. on Monday it will be 11wks. mine incidentally mine has not been effected.

General Car Chat / car battery rip off
« on: 11 July 2020, 18:46:40 »
my son had until very recently had a diesel ford escort derived van. he needed a battery & a local garage that he rang told him to take it to them. they quoted him £70 so he left it with them . half a hour later he got a call & expected to be told it was ready instead they said when the quoted they hadn,t realised that it had a stop/start system & the quote had gone up a bit to £340.

as being an owner of two 2.2dti,s in the past, and experiencing the same problems i would recommend a remap & a total delete of the egr .the dti,s i owned were both done & that put an end to the problems that you are experiencing. i did thoroughly clean the intake manifold but still it had the same problem. remap + egr & blank is the answer.

my father in-law died , he had asbestosis through working in the coach building industry .employed at 15 as an apprentice joiner for British rail. he was an amazing man , never had time off through illness. did the last 20yrs on nights doing 4 x 12 hr shifts. on a sunday night i,d meet up with him & have a drink with him & on our way home for about a year he would complain about the pains he were having but still never saw a doctor. eventually the family doctor was called & he remarked that technically he shouldn,t be seeing him cos he had never seen a doctor he wasn,t registered anywhere. however they got him into an hospital & 7 days later he died. 1974 at the age of 64. sorry i kind of hi-jacked the op post.
