3.2 EML on and rough idle / poor acceleration
« on: 16 April 2014, 20:21:38 »

Hi all,

Orange engine light has been on for a few days but hasn't caused any problems until today.  ???

Car now has rough idle on start up and when it goes into gear the car will shake and EML will flash and then settle and stay on with poor acceleration.

Hoping to see and fellow oofer tomorrow who has a code reader but any initial thoughts ?  :(

Its the 300 306 thats causing the rough running, it will probably go away instantly if you could reset the Codes, untill the next time, in the absence of a reset, you could try unpluging ECU over night.

Seems cam cover gaskets are leaking both sides and prob causing oil dripping into the plug wells.

Check Oil Level ( dipstick level normal ) and check coolant coming up on display today also  :'(

All basic Omega service items ::)

Actually check the coolant level... if fine then you have a sticky sensor, usually a new expansion tank to cure, but if it needs topping up then it has a leak.

When doing the camcovers/cleaning the breathers you'll have access to check everything that might be leaking... a short list but:

oil cooler cover plate
thermostat housing... you need a new thermostat any way, so might as well change it while you can get at it
coolant bridge seals
HBV and associated pipes
radiator... anywhere on the left hand side... they crack where the expansion hose connects and both fan temp switches and drain plug can leak

All a piece of pish to sort :y

Is this the same 3.2 you had the gearbox issues with or a different one?
